Yeah, I heard Mrs. Hill say they'd still being going down to the local cafe for coffee and fish night and I hope they can but somehow I don't think so.

Highland man collects $1 million in record Powerball® run

INDIANAPOLIS – A Highland man plans to help his mother, start a college fund for his daughter and take his girlfriend to Red Lobster after winning $1 million in last night’s historic $587.5 million Powerball drawing.

What he isn’t going to do is quit working.  The hard-working 34-year-old Hoosier and union electrician says he’ll be back on the job Monday morning after he meets with a tax advisor and a financial planner.

The winning numbers in last night's drawing were: 5-16-22-23-29 PB: 6.

Chandler, who played numbers of his own choosing, matched the first five of those numbers, but not the Powerball number.  He was all smiles as he claimed his winnings.

“This doesn’t happen to me!” said Chandler. “It’s crazy. I’ve never won anything.”

Chandler purchased his million-dollar ticket at Highland Citgo at 8317 Kennedy Avenue in Highland.

I really hope the Hill's will be able to eventually get back to "normal" as possible, but I highly doubt with winning that kind of money, it would be anytime soon (if ever). I don't believe this family played the lottery much, so I'm not so sure if they researched  some of the horror stories out there. When I win (heehee), I am hoping I'd be able to remain as anonymous as possible.

In response to the post above about the man who will continue working after winning a million dollars, I'd probably do the same. Don't get me wrong, a million dollars is alot of money, but sadly these days, it's really not enough for me to consider quitting my job.. <sad face>

I think the town they live in is close knit enough to where they can stay there and not be too bothered....It dosen't sound like they're gonna take to outsiders too well

I think sudden wealth from a lottery win seems to attract the hyenas more than old money.

The hyenas seem to think you are less deserving somehow and should be willing to share with them.

Yep, like Mike Ditka used to say about George Halas: "He throws quarters around like they were manhole covers."

That makes the most sense rdgrnr......I always wondered why people think its ok to ask a lottery winner for money but they wouldn't dare ask I don't know....Bill Gates or maybe Mark Cuban...or even one of the Wal-mart kids to pay off their credit cards or help them out of debt.....It should be the same whether you win you money or was passed thru the generations to you....I know if I win I'm carrying around copies of Forbes richest list and I'll say..."Work your way thru this list and if they all say no....... then come to me.....and then I'll say no as well.......

Everybody that plays jackpot games have positive thoughts about life after a jackpot win, but very few think about the down side. It's normal for them to go out to eat and maybe have conversations with their friends and acquaintances but now the conversations will be much different. I doubt normal to them isn't having someone taking them aside and asking for a $500 to $10,000 loan or more either. Some say they will continue to work, but that small amount of change a co-worker needed for the vending machine might become a request for a new set of tires.

Their life will be what's becoming an overused catch phrase, "the new normal".
