Do you know the opportunity cost of spending $1 to win $12M with odds of 1 in 175M?

How many $12M jackpots winners have you seen in mega millions since the game started?

Don't know

Don't care

But if it comes my way

I'll be there

was low sales volume caused by misunderstood Mayan calendar ?

I think so. Why bother winning a jackpot if I'm going to be busy enjoying the glory of heaven itself?

Driving upset in the lottery community, the Mega Millions Jackpot rolled over but did not increase in annuity value. In fact the cash value was reduced by 100k. There is much speculation as to why this proved so but no one seems to be happy about this rare occurrence. If it rolls over, what do you think the annuity value will be?

I suppose they would have REDUCED the jackpot if the rules had allowed????

I am guessing it's a hybrid between low sales volume and large payouts of 2nd tier prizes.

I went out on a limb and voted 18m.

If the jackpot had not been at the starting minimum, would they have reduced it?

They would never do that but it's a nail biting experience not having any control over sales volume coupled with the fact that jackpots are being won so frequently.

Could you imagine the outrage? The Someday Lottery Club would lead the charge of course!

The sales were average, but since the next drawing is on Christmas Day, you're probably right about those sales being above average. Bet scratch-off sales will be up on Monday too.

I think it works out well for them that Christmas Day falls on the day of the draw.
