BB:

You are on a relentless hunt for that "right" situation to justify tipping clerks - lol!

Newsflash: There is none.

It's in the clerk's interest to select one for the customer. Hopefully he/she was smart to select the most expensive one. At the end of the day it's good customer service and part of the job expectations.

I tip the bartender for lifting me out of the bar and into the taxi and using psychic vibrations to give directions to my house. Does that count?

Tipping is a discretionary act and usually done for service above and beyond. This clerk did what? Stretch his/her hand, pulled and and tore off a ticket from the roll. Do you see that as above and beyond?

I Agree! They should put up signs..... NO TIPPING THE CLERK.

It is just plain stupid to think giving a tip to the clerk is a good idea.

YES, i give clerks tips all the time but not because i had won, i give the guys tips that carry my groceries to the car, i tried to tip the cashier at walmart at Christmas time, he said i can't take tips or i will be fired.. Yes Nod

See there, its very important NOT to give tips inappropriately. It can cause a conflict of interest and cost someone their job.... In the case of the muslim in Chicago I think it cost him his life...........

I Agree! Some clerks might think you were being cheap if you gave them less than they thought you could afford.   So why bother?

The store owner already gets a chunk of your prize in the form of a commission for selling the big winner.

Right, and all stores have more than one clerk. It s just stupid to think any of the clerks should get a tip. I think the curse follows people who think they should tip...........
