RE: [Complaints/Feedback] Pretty Upset with Ga retailers

From:
"Georgia Lottery"
Thank you for contacting the Georgia Lottery Corporation (GLC). We apologize for the delay in our response.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced while attempting to purchase Georgia Lottery tickets.  The Georgia Lottery contracts with retailers throughout the state to sell tickets and pay prizes up to $600 on winning tickets, by cash, check, money order, or a combination of two forms of payment. Georgia Lottery retailers cannot determine if instant game tickets are winning tickets without information printed on the front and the back of each ticket.  The secure validation code on the front of the ticket can only be viewed by scratching the play area of the ticket.  Additionally, winning tickets are randomly distributed in a pack of tickets; therefore, no one knows where the winning tickets will come from.  Because of this, we do not require retailers to sell tickets in sequential order or provide specific tickets numbers to players upon request; those decisions are left to the retailer's discretion. Georgia Lottery tickets may be purchased at more than 8,500 retailers throughout the state of Georgia. Please let us know if you need assistance finding another retailer.
Additionally, the Georgia Lottery is very serious about the security and integrity of our games and promotions.  All of our second chance drawings are random, and we have no control over which entry will be selected or where the winners will come from.  Each entry has the same odds of winning.  The odds of winning in our second chance promotions depend upon the total number of eligible entries received during the entry period.  We receive thousands of entries for each drawing.  Secure, random computerized drawings for the GLC's second chance promotions are conducted at Georgia Lottery headquarters under the supervision of auditors.  Georgia Lottery retailers are allowed to purchase lottery tickets and enter second chance promotions.
The GLC takes these complaints seriously; they are investigated by our sales team to ensure proper compliance with lottery policies.  Please email us back with the name and exact address of the retailer (or the six digit retailer number located on the first line of numbers beneath the date on the left side of a draw game ticket that was purchased at that location) so that we may follow up on this matter.
We appreciate your interest in the GLC and our games.

      What was your complaint.

I had an issue with a retailer, I was first in line and had asked for the next ticket on the roll of 100x The Money because it was on one of #s I like, and he said "Alright, hold on a minute" and proceeded to help a customer for a gas payment. A "ticket poacher" guy came up behind me, hearing me tell the retailer what I wanted and why, asked for the same ticket (he's behind me in line still) and the clerk said "Okay, good luck", and I said "Hey, wait! Thats the one I asked for!" and the clerk said "What does it matter? It doesn't matter what # ticket you get!" And the guy who got the ticket then won $500.00. I was so upset. The retailer was so ugly to me, and I am a regular at this particular store..... And then I proceeded to scan my tickets to double check myself (these were second chance drawings that he knows I enter them in and use them), and he offered to scan them as well "to help" (they were quite a bit) so I allowed it. He then scanned a bit of mine, only to throw them in his trashbin and state "None are winning tickets". There was no receipt back to indicate that this was true. I was livid as this point. I then grabbed them back and I left to scan them elsewhere, and guess what, I later rechecked them with their being a $50 and $40 winners in the bunch! I suppose he was going to use them to cash them in for later and use my second chance tickets for himself. I expressed my concerns with the GA Lottery about these incidents and how I think there should be better oversight for retailers that do the things he was doing. I didn't think it was fair that all he has to do is grab the ones from his bin that he didn't purchase (from customers that don't know any better or recheck themselves) and have an unfair advantage and better odds at winning the second chance promotion than the rest of us. I told them that I had concerns with the same several people winning the promotion several times (three times within 5 months); Considering the odds, it just didn't seem right to me. I don't mind people winning more than once but winning several different promotions andalso some also winning in the same second chance ticket promotion, it just doesn't seem to fair or random to me, that they need a better system in picking the winners randomly. After the ex-president got into hot water over a winfall profit (they won't call it a bonus even though it is a bonus payment), and after some watchdog had ruled that they had to curb their bonuses, I was not happy and concerned in the fairness of their lottery period. I also mentioned that there were many others that were frustrated over the same thing.

This is just a summary of the two emails I sent them a month prior to their response back to me that glossed over what my issues were and didn't cover what I had actually complained about. lol

Thanks dallascowboyfan, and to top it off, try to deny my winning tickets. That would have sucked if I took him at his word. He actually called his father (owner of store) and angrily talked about me in front of me. The other clerk told me that he was going through a rough time and to give him a pass! It's crazy!

That's good that the lottery asked for the store information like that and seems like they will follow up on it.  I hope justice is served.

I only wish... I used to go there all the time! It's crazy how mean and corrupt he is, maybe I didn't see all the things he was up to till now. I can only hope karma exists so he will not get a pass lol.

They answered me back a month after I wrote them two emails complaining but I am glad they eventually responded. I know they probably get a lot of complaints but there's a lot he is doing wrong. I believe it may be just to pacify me into thinking they'll do something. I don't think his first name is a "real" one but his last name is Patel (his first is a common name, like Dave or John for example.) I hope you are right though.
