I can tell you exactly why the activity is dying. Like you've suspected, they've flooded the state with duds - famous qyote from Wbrightfl. I took a break from my scratchoff hiatus while visiting family this past weekend. I bought $300 worth of random $20, and $25 tickets. I got $20 Monopoly, $20 Gold Rush, and $25 Misfortune tickets. I bought these tickets at random gas stations along Volusia, and Orange county. I stopped by the store that sold the last $2M Holiday Millions prize in Deland, and had an interesting conversation with the clerk there.
What did I get back from $300 spent? $70. I noticed alot of the $20 Monopoly rolls are in the 390k-400k+ range now. I'd recommend that game since another $5M prize will be ready to pop soon. The $5 Cash Fall game has around 2.6k books left across the state, and has 2/8 jackpots unclaimed. Even if only 1 actually exists, those are good odds for hitting $250k. That's another "hot" game at the moment that I would recommend purchasing to anyone playing regularly. Best of luck all!
Hey Theos - you are the historian of book numbers - I was looking at some wins I've had from World Class and $10 M and will post the first 4 numbers of the book (hope that's enough) to show book number.
maybe you can figure out something from this .......like trends ? for sure the wins for me have STOPPED ...... the book numbers for World Class most recently that produced dud after dud:
0197, 0172, 0186 (and higher)
My $20K was 0114. April 11th I think - I'm posting below the back of the ticket so you can analyze it
Several $500's and $1000's ..........................0676, 0143, 0106, o651,0538
On $10 M ....... good hits on 0650, 0590, 0662 ........ now the books are much higher
To me it looks like most of my action was in around mid April ........ petered out the last 2 weeks or so.
I've noticed too that over the years action came for a few weeks and then would stop and start up again in a few months....

Just sayin'
Hey Ed,
Those are interesting observations. Thanks for posting the book number of your big win. Honestly, the more I think about it the more I think book ranges should only be looked at to eliminate buying from rolls where we know jackpots have been found within a certain range. For example, there's still rolls of the World Class Cash game all over the place here in Gainesville in the 50k-90k range and since I remember seeing 4 jackpots pop up fairly quickly around that range I know the likelihood of hitting a life changer there is low. I think it is best to only play the newest rolls, generally, and it seems like Publix, and various gas stations are the best bets for hitting big ones since they shift through large numbers of tickets and constantly put out new rolls. But even then, the problem with doing that is a person can eliminate their chances of hitting the big one through exclusion. I remember a $5M prize popped up on the $20 Flamingo in the 600k when most books sold in Publix stores were in the 750k-780k book range. Someone who follows book numbers might have skipped out on playing another $20 Flamingo after noticing how low that book number was compared to the most recent ones and missed out on that massive prize
I think you're right on to something about the hot/cold waves although those would be extremely difficult to predict because there's just too many variables the lottery uses in randomizing their book distributions. I travel alot for my job and when in South FL, I remember when the Gold Rush Doubler game came out and I saw books in the low thousands all the way up to the 60k book range. Whatever strategy you've been doing, you should keep it up. The Sarasota area has been really hot. Maybe you'll start to better identify these patterns, perhaps following the UPS driver when they deliver a new shipment to test how some of those new books pay out? I haven't heard of any big winners here in Gainesville lately. The few times I am at Publix while the Lotto district office is open, I notice that it is empty.
Are you playing the $5 tickets here and there? I know you focus on $20 and $25 games, but maybe buy just 1 random $5 ticket here or there. The $5 Cash Fall game has around 3k books left across the state but 2/8 jackpots are unclaimed. Even if one $250k prize only remains, those odds of 1 in 3k isn't bad for someone buying a $300 book of $5 tickets, especially with a minimum payout of $115. There's also a decent number of $10k, $2k, and $1k prizes remaining. If I were playing scratchoffs, that would be the game I'd be playing right now. Surprisingly, the last $10 Holiday Millions $2M jackpot was found. Perhaps both of those $250k prizes will be found on the $5 Cash Fall game. Time will tell...
Anyway, wishing everyone the best of luck and hope someone here hits something life changing or at least finds those nice and *elusive* $500+ winners.

I'm out in Texas for the week for work and I'd have to say that Texas scratch offs are brutal compared to Florida. I've dropped 250 so far and won 100.

Hi Bke72$,
I know you wanted to play here, but I told you they are horrible. I keep saying I am done, but continue to throw money away. I hope your luck gets better. I have been playing 2 and 5 dollar tickets so I don't get my butt kicked all the time.

OMILLER 315 just posted the back side of a scratch off ticket in his State PA - it reads in part, " Prizes up to $2,500 may be claimed at a Lottery Retailer."
It doesn't say District Office.......... how nice that would be in Florida - when we occasionally win a $1000 scratcher we have to drive to a DISTRICT office to redeem it. For some of us, including me, it's a stiff one hour or more drive to a district office. If I understand what that ticket says it would be great to cash it in at say Publix and avoid the time consuming trip. Anyone know why FLORIDA can't do the same ?
I just sent an email to Florida Lottery asking why we can't have that ...... will be curious to see their answer.

Yes, We can cash up to $2,500 at a retailer if they have the money(or write the check/money order). Of course most places here refuse to cash $100, but they are generally smaller types. I know the guy next to work, would make sure to have the cash on hand to pay out up to$2500 if someone hit.

Also interesting is that the ticket says prizes over $600 require a claim form. So, it looks like the retailer is responsible for getting a correctly filled out claim form for prizes $600 - $2500? What if the retailer pays out the prize and the claim form is not filled out right? Do they require ID information to claim? I am wondering if other states, including Florida, want prizes over $600 claimed at a district office or the main office due to the paperwork involved?

I emailed FLORIDA LOTTERY asking about cashing a scratch off up to $2,500 at a LOTTERY RETAILER here in FLORIDA - like PA and maybe other states do -
instead of having to take a long drive ( in many cases) to a DISTRICT OFFICE to cash in a $1000 winning scratch off
Posted below is the FLORIDA LOTTERY reply - reads like a Politician's reply to a question. I had to cut and resection the answer so I could fit it on here.
I'm pretty lucky winning several $1000 Tickets over time - and I DREAD the hour plus trip to the DISTRICT office near Tampa - everytime I've been there
MOST of the people waiting in the lobby have $1000 wins. I'd say 90% ....Some tell me their drive to the DISTRICT office is almost TWO hours !!!
Yes you can mail your winning ticket to TALLAHASSEE instead of the drive. I did that TWO times - one took about 3 weeks to get my check. The other time
they sent my claim form BACK saying my signature looked like a "photocopy" and asked I RE SIGN it with BLUE ink !!

Correct. Our claim form requires a valid drivers license. The paperwork is minimal. When I won the 7 times a few years back, He would hand me the paperwork and I filled it all out myself(minus his signature). Of course that's also a trust factor, but the paperwork itself just basically has name, address, PA license #, SSN, Game/batch/ticket # and then the long code that you have to scratch off to reveal. Takes a few minutes at most to fill it out and only 1 page.
