My first one was Powerball.  I was visiting my sister and she lived near the Four Corners area.  Her state didn't have it, but we drove to either New Mexico or Colorado and bought a couple.  IIRC neither of us won a dime.

Red Hot 7 and hence my user ID. It's a $5 ticket. I think I won $10 or $15 the first time I bought a lottery ticket.

1 DM on the Hessen Lotto in Grmany, a 6/49 game.

The drawing was on Saturday nights and it was a good way to learn the numbers in German.

Guten ahbent meine damen und herren. Das es er Hessiche lotto.

Eine und dreizig, tsvo und fierzig, sieben, tself, zwanzig..und der zuzathspielen es neun.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

I don't remember the ticket name.

It was a pre printed $1 paper ticket that came with perforations between the tickets.

It was red white and blue and there was a weekly drawing where you could win $1,000,000

This was a Michigan ticket and I don't remember the name.

It was in the 1980's when there was that ticket and the daily 3 and some weird card game that had odd prizes...it was printed off a terminal like the daily 3 tickets and there where dollar scratchers at the time.

I remember one scratcher that had a second chance drawing for $2,000,000 it was in the early eighties and it was called something like TIC TAC TWO (that would be about like $6,000,000 off a $3 ticket today)

I know it was a scratcher cause that's how states get started,

but I was only 17 so can't remember when I bought the first legal one.

I guess that happened shortly after my 18th b/day.

back then no one seemed to care, been going to the racetrack since i was 14 y/o

My first was Mega Millions, and I won zip. And from then on I was hooked! What?

I lived most of my adult life in a non-lottery state. Even though I had traveled to many big lottery states during that time, CA, TX, MA, FL, WA, it is funny that even though I knew about the lottery and huge jackpots, it never even crossed my mind to buy a ticket when I was staying in one of those states.

I did go to casinos here and there, in Vegas and on indian reservations, but never bought a lottery ticket. When you grow up without it, its just not even in your psyche. It was only when I moved to California a few years ago, and saw the thing in just about every convenience store on every corner, and in every grocery store, that I decided to try.

Michigan Pick3. A family friend was up there and called for some numbers and I gave him Chevy motors 283, 327, 396, 409 and 427.

He said I won and gave me some money when he got back but it must have been box cuz I don't think it was very much. He paid for the tickets anyway.
