I hope you're right. I got my powerball tickets right here.

I am throwing my support behind the miniskirt in Kansas. Maybe you two can share IT. I meant the jackpot dude...the jackpot!

Maybe I didn't make this clear enough.

I currently have a curse in effect on California for all large urban areas.

People in small towns or rural areas, particularly in far north environs should take advantage of this.

People in large urban areas are advised not to waste their money.

Why, you may ask, do I have this curse on large swaths of the land of fruits and nuts?

Well, partly because someone stole my camera at the dock waiting for the boat for the Alcatraz Tour.

But mainly because I don't like Charlie Sheen.

You should of called C.H.I.P.S. Those guys would of got your camera back.

              350m pb

sweet lordly, we got a monster!

atfer 39.6% full fed tax. that u pay later in year,  that's a total of 134,571,200 atfer taxes"any states taxes not in math"

Powerball: $224.7 million cash, Aug. 15, 2012 ($337 million annuity) - Michigan was 5th largest cash jackpot

              its now 6th largest rofl.

our 228m  cash pb jackpot, the new 5th highest cash payout in history,  like i said, a true monster!

              other fact

if only 1 ticket wins it, it be largest cash jackpot in history"claimed by 1 ticket" only

ya , top 4 cash jackpots above it, have all been won with 2 tickets or more,

this could be the new largest cash jackpot won by 1 ticket,  it could pull it off, that's a lot of money for 1 person.............

thro i doubt even if it rolls to half a billion, it ever beat this

Mega Millions: $471 million cash, Mar. 30, 2012 ($656 million annuity) - Illinois, Kansas, Maryland

largest ever in history, and i doubt any one will beat it."how i love to be proven wrong thro"

thro it has good shoot at beating old pb record, thro we won't know to atfer draw, it be close.........................................

and with MM also now higher, will its good time to be jackpot player,  high numbers for everybody!

              No bees, no honey.

Jackpot fever, baby! This is how we get the huge leaps in jackpot value. People who "never" play will get themselves a ticket. Every office will form a pool. And the usual player will spend more, this next draw I will double my usual PB spending, two tickets this time!

7 million a year after taxes for the annuity.

I'd still take the 134 million cash option.

None of that crap for me.  I'm buying my usual one ticket.  Either I'm playing one ticket or I'm not playing.  I won't be playing though if I win Tuesday's Mega Millions, which has to be done to prevent the chance of a Florida lottery player winning a jackpot the state lottery barely contributed to.

That's the payout after some money is withheld for federal and state taxes. If you have only  the typical deductions your actual federal tax bill would be about 39.6%, which is just shy of $120 million, making the actual net no more than $183 million, even if there's no state tax. You'd need to send the IRS a big fat check for estimated taxes, and do the final accounting when you file your 2013 return.

OTOH, if you give $150 million to charity you'd only be paying taxes on about $150 million, so the federal tax bite would be no more than about $60 million. You'd have less money for yourself, but you'd have been able to spend a lot more on your favorite causes.
