Anyone willing to copy and paste or simply enter the data daily can update their data, the problem is the software doesn't do anything with the data that players value after a while.
Sure at first knowing which numbers hit the most or most recently and etc. might seem like data that could be used to pick winners but after a while it becomes obvious that it's not and interest in the software wends and the users aren't willing to pay any amount to support it. Besides, such data is offered free by websites like LP to attractive potential viewers.
The market of lottery software buyers isn't as large as the market for movie viewers.
Writing a program that pulls in numbers automattically isn't a big deal (now that I have that code working, it's just tedious setting up each state). After that, it's a question of what to do with the data. If there's a market for such a program (albeit a small one), I can see about writing it. The plus for you guys is that you could tell me what you would like the to do with the data, what type of manipulation you'd like to see. For example, because I'm pulling in several states on my site, I can run queries for all sorts of things. One of the things I came up with recently is tracking what I call the "Next Draw" (I'm sure others have already thought of this and there's probably a better name for it but that's what I call it...). So I set the query up so I can change a date for easy testing. Then I go back one day, find out what the last draw was for each position. Then I go back a year (I've tried various date ranges like 30 days, 90 days, all time, etc) and see what numbers followed when the last draw number occurred. I've been playing around with that data for a bit. Interesting stuff. In any case, once I have the back data, I can do pretty much whatever people come up with. The problem is, I'm only one guy, I can only think of so much. If people will share the data they like to see (vtracs, # of hits over 30 days/a year/all time, days out, average days out, maximum days out... this list could go on and on), I can make it happen. It's not even that hard or a lot of work. If people just tell me what they'd like, I can throw it up on my site for free. Just for now, it has to be for Pick 3 games because that's all the data I have in my database. Once I get all of the states pulling in data for that, I'll branch off to other games.
