Hello, I'm new to this forum.  I'm just curious to know how much money people would be happy with it they ever won the jackpot.

I would like to win when it is under 200 million than when it goes over 300 and starts breaking records. Ideally around 170 million range. So if you take the lump sum, you get back around 60-70 mill after taxes. Give or take a few. More than enough to last me my entire life and not have to worry about money. Plus it only takes about a month for powerball to reach to 170 mill, and about two months with mega millions. A lot faster than having to wait for the jackpot to go into the triple hundreds.

When the jackpot is really high, the more media frenzy you have to deal with. Everyone wants to find out who won. Your name and face will be plasterd all over TV and the internet. You probably will have to do interviews and what not. I don't want to be famous or draw too much attention to myself. And you more of a bigger target for scammers that comes out from every orifices, and people might try to kill you for your money like some past lotto winners. I woulnd't know what to do with two hundred million much less one hundred. Probaly give most of it away.

When the jackpot is not so high, you can probably slip under the radar with not much attention if you do win.

I don't buy a lot of stuff or care for too much material things. I just want a couple of nice modest homes to live comfortably. No huge mansions. Just a home somewhere in the country side and a rustic cabin for a winter getaway. Couple of dream cars I've always wanted; a Maserati Gran cabrio sport and an Aston Martin Virage. And to to travel every year with my wife. And mabey start my own business to keep busy. The rest of the money will go towards helping out my family. Give to cahrities, animal shelters. Peole that are less fortunate. Invest some money. That's about it for me to live a fulfilled an contended life.

Most people would be happy to win the jackpot of any game they buy tickets for or else they shouldn't be buying those tickets.

     * you don't need to buy more tickets, just buy a winning ticket *

Now, stop being so wishy washy and tell us exactly how much you'd want to win! Big Grin

Me, $25million, cash, after taxes, would be ideal for all I want to do.  I wouldn't want to call attention to myself with a massive jackpot, nor would I want to buy lots of expensive stuff. A mansion doesn't interest me whatsoever, neither does owning multiple houses and cars. I'd rather rent a nice furnished place wherever we travel to (Tuscany, for instance) and let someone else deal with the property taxes and fixing leaks.

          My biggest spends would be:

          1. Travel - I love travel and would want to spend at least 3 months every year doing that. And I'd only fly business or first class, no more cattle class.

          2. Art - on my travels, I'd browse art galleries and buy art and sculpture by local artists, none of that overpriced, pretentious stuff. In Santa Fe, I saw so much art I'd just love, same in Colorado. I'd also like to take lessons.

          3. Good red wine - traveling to the source.

          4. Being Fairy Godmother to those who need something to make their lives better, whether family, friends or anonymously to complete strangers. But within reason, no splashing around of big amounts of money, as we'd continue to live on a budget (just a bigger one).

I love dreaming about winning the lotto! Smile

I'd be ecstatic with 22 to 23 mil after taxes.  Two or 3 to spend, and 20 to invest would provide for me nicely for the rest of my life without ever having to dip into the principle.  Any more than that, I would just donate to nonprofits.

I'd like $200 million cash value after taxes. Not necessarily from a single drawing; multiple wins would be fine. Regardless of the size of the jackpot I win, though, I'd put 1/3rd toward current expenditures like houses, furnishings, and a 25 or 30 year annuity; 1/3rd distributed to family and freinds; 1/3rd for investments in startup companies and publicly traded stocks.

Not sure what the specific amount would be but enough to allow me to buy what I want to buy and do what I want to do when I want to do it.

Christopher Morely defined success as being able to live your life imn your own way.

One of the smartest things I ever saw posted here on LP is the jackpot you want to win is one right after the winning ticket has been sold for a record jackpot and the winner hasn't come forward yet. The attention will be on them, not you - hopefully, anyway.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

                        5 MILS.

Which Is what I figure the clear Is on the base MM and just happens to be the minimum I figure I need for Instant retirement.

After MM changes the game I guess my 5MILS figure will change to whatever the clear Is on the base PB.

Of course I'll take any amount, but I agree w/the others that say the JPs that don't draw to much attention are better.

Whatever's in the jackpot of whatever game I play.

It don't make me no nevermind how much it is or ain't.

I'm just gonna give it away anyway.
