I have money saved just for the lotto....I don't get to play it much anyway...so

 I would ....for a Billion dollar jackpot...throw down 500$ for 500 lines.

Cheers

Well, since I haven't played a single game since the MM matrix change, if  the MM hits a billion dollars, I'd perhaps do $20 or so. It depends on what the PB JP is at the same time.

I might wake up early and go running.  I might also wake up and win the lottery.

The odds are about the same.

Yeah. If PB keeps rolling it could be about $250 million at the same time that MM hits a billion. Who wouldn't want to spend the same amount of money to have 3/4 the chance of winning 25% as much instead of buying MM tickets?

      I agree.

I don't wager based on Jackpots.

      It's the odds.

I'd wager the same amount on a Billion Dollar Jackpot as I do on the Starting Jackpot.

      Based on the odds.

Since a bigger Jackpot doesn't make it any more likely for me to win, why would I bet more?

I Agree! That is why I do not get "jackpot fever" when the jackpot amount revs up because the amount of the jackpot only matters to the person or persons holding the winning ticket.

I merely make sure I have a few plays in by subscription. Then I may purchase up to $5 more at a local store since online one draw purchase requires a minimum purchase of $5 (I like to buy one ticket at one place, then stop at another place the next day and buy two tickets and then buy another two tickets on day of drawing). I never stay up to watch the drawing. I usually log on to Mega Millions website to see status or tune into WBBM to hear traffic, other news and lottery news.

anyone who would borrow money or spend entire paycheck on lottery tickets could be called foolish...even if they win some prize level because the odds of losing are astronomical!

Get MONEY!!! Winning a JACKPOT lottery is all the HOPE and CHANGE I desire!!!  NOW give me MONEY!US Flag

The guy who won the presidency in 2008 really won the lottery...he is now millions richer, travels in first class style, and even has a staff that would be the envy of the richest Powerball winner (she has a staff of 2). Every night he goes to sleep, he probably plays the close of Dave Chappelle's Show: I'm rich beyatch!

Depends, if I hit the 3 digit that day I may buy more, mostly just 5 - 10 bucks.

On a $1 Billion Mega Millions Jackpot?

You didn't have a slot on the poll for my answer - $4.00.

That's two lines with the Megaplier.

Same as I play on the base Jackpot of $15 Million.

I'll guess that you're referring to MM in that case 1 line for each drawing w/ MP of course.

Base JP or a billion same thing.

If I 'm going to buy xtra tix. I'll do it on my state 6/49 game or JC5 which ever has a higher than usual JP

According to this poll, one member would bet $500, and another would bet $1000.

I didn't know Pete Rose and Charles Barkley were members of LP!

Extra tickets will not necessarily help you, but handicapping those tickets might.

While being an expert at baseball, or basketball should not necessarily predispose one to suppose they are an expert at lottery,

one should have an open mind and realize there might be a lot of lottery strategies that can be found, that are also unknown.

Reign in that hubris.  I know a lot of professional athletes went to college, but I cant but doubt that a lot of them had their homework done for them or had their papers copied off wikepedia.

When the MM was at 5-600 mill I put down $40 so I wouldn't hesitate to put down $40 again if it were to hit $1 billion.

The answer is a Dollar.  PB is another buck.

                      I'm with you! $2 (w/Megapiler)

I remember when MM jp rose to $650M in 2011. I spent $34 and won nothing. And that was when the jackpot odds was sensible. I wouldn't buy more than 2 lines if any at all.

Now that MM has a 5/75 +1/15 matrix, you can play all 75 white balls and all 15 megaball for $15 and be guaranteed you'll win at least a dollar.

I purchase one ticket every draw on the mm and powerball. When it gets over 500 million I will purchase up to 20 mm tickets (no multiplier) and up to 10 powerball tickets (no powerplay).  I won't spend over $20 on any draw and if I choose to add the multiplier I would decrease my tickets in half to compensate.  After the jackpot is hit I go back to my one ticket.
