Different cultures eat different things for different reasons to ring in the new year.  This year I made a pork roast, blackeyed peas and collard greens,  its supposed to bring luck and money here in the south.  What did you eat and why??

              BuyLow,

"...its supposed to bring luck and money here in the south"

This kind of stiff drives me crazy. I'm in what''s caled the Mid-South - lower Midwest, it's an economically depressed area and apparenlty the traditional meals for a 'prosperous' New Year just don't work.

Sure can't convince people of that though.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

              Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

Any food served at Cracker Barrel. I only go there when on road trips because we don't have one near me. The food there reminds me of vacation so I have come to love love Cracker Barrel food. Roast beef, green beans, marshed potatoes, baby carrots...now I am hungry!

                  That money's gone fo ever

                      BuyLow,

Good for the winner from Tennessee and they might have had such a meal. But that's one person of millions and those millions will probably continue to have a "RC and a Moon Pie" for lunch until next New Year's. (Not that there's anything wrong with that!)
