PB players don't need to do the math to understand they must purchase 30 tickets ($60) to get a reasonable chance of winning something; especially for the $12 - $20 a week player after tossing those tickets almost every drawing. I believe even the die-hard PB an MM players have figured out how difficult it is to win a jackpot and without the monster jackpot, it's just not the same.

The odds of winning a jackpot seem to favor PP, but the odds of winning a MM jackpot by purchasing $30 worth of tickets is 8,629,695 compared to PB's 1 in 11,681,567.

It takes $2 to win the jackpot. You can win the jackpot with a $2 Quick Pick ticket, if you are destined to win a Powerball lottery jackpot.

Better hurry up and try to win it before it becomes impossible to win. Wink

Playing the lottery more often does not increase your chances of winning a lottery jackpot.

I take it, they'll make the odds tougher than Mega Millions, but look what's happening with that game.  It's still being won before the anticipated monster jackpots.  I do miss the jackpot frenzy though.  As far as jackpot prizes, this summer was a dud!

Mega Millions matrix change has been a failure. Where is the 1 billion jackpot? Lottery players are winning the game without spending big money on it. It takes $1 to win a Mega Millions jackpot.

Players who win $100 millions still get excited, it's just that kind of excitement isn't called a frenzy any more since most of the loser feel foolish for having brought losing tickets.

A lottery is a “Zero-sum game”. What one group of participants gains in cash, the other group of participants must lose. If we made a list of all the participants in a lottery, it might include:

        1) Federal Government (Lottery winnings are taxable)
        2) State Governments (Again lottery winnings are taxable)
        3) State Governments (Direct share of lottery ticket sales)
        4) Merchants that sell tickets (Paid by the lottery organizers)
        5) Lottery companies (Hint: They are not doing all this for free)
        6) Advertisers and promoters (Paid by the lottery companies)
        7) Lottery ticket buyers (Buy lottery tickets and receive payouts)

The winners in the above list are:
        1) Federal Government
        2) State Government (Taxes)
        3) State Government (Direct share)
        4) Merchants that sell tickets
        5) Lottery companies
        6) Advertisers and promoters

        And the losers are:

Haven't most jackpot winners played one ticket, one to five lines of numbers?

$2 Powerball Quick Pick ticket is enough to win the jackpot. You only need a single of numbers to win the jackpot.

Powerball - They need to revert back to $1.00 Tickets, and kill the $2.00 ticket fiasco.  Maybe the Jackpot will increase faster, if more people start buying more tickets, more often again, because they can afford to again.

You make a valid point. Move it back to one dollar if the odds are going to increase. Even the common man knows that when odds go up, the interest to invest more goes down.
