Yea, I have had that kinda issue and its always when you are in a hurry! I have been in line and seen the person ahead of me getting crappy service and left to go to another store.  For me, I find this happens alot-

I go into a store, there is NO ONE at the counter.  I go up and hand my cards to a clerk.  The moment I do that 5 people end up behind me waiting.  I have no idea WHERE they come from.  And then the clerk is SUPER SLOW and everyone starts squawking behind me -- Mad

It's always better to go to someplace where the clerks also play lotto.

The people that really get me are the ones who stick some cash in a scratcher machine, get one ticket at a time, and scratch the tickets one the machine. It's as if they think having put money in the machine the 'own it'.

I told one guy that the machine is for everybody, the idea is to get your tickets and move, not to bogart the machine. He actually asked me what I meant.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

    Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

lol yeah, sounds a bit familiar way to often. You stand there, slow & bad service. The guy behind the counter does not want to be working there, and it's quite obvious, so he takes his sweet old time and makes you wait while he walks over to the counter. Then when you get there, there's multiple people in back of you. I was waiting in line at a Quick check last week and it was close to cut off time for the mega millions. I only had about a few minutes left to play before the drawing. To make a long story short, I never got to play for that evening, because the guy in front of me decided to let someone get in front of him and they took their sweet old time. I got the draw for Today's Mega so we'll see if the quick pick I played for last Friday is lucky.

      Here's some annoying things:

-The lotto scratcher machine hoggers: They stand there like its a slot machine. OR They stalk you to see which ones you scratch to compete and get the next one. (I usually buy $600 packs) to avoid this when I can afford to.

-The pick4 & pick3 people who stand in line with a list of numbers to give to the clerck that want their numbers a specific way, on one ticket, seperate, etc, and a list that rolls to the floor.

-The clerks who get busy and when you're about to pay them, you just want one more quick pick, but they give the guy in back of you one quick pick (that was suppose to be yours) to expedite the line.

-The clerk who always messes up your numbers.

-Clerks who never have bet slips and are unwilling to enter your numbers.

The list goes on and on.....sometimes to avoid this as many have mentioned above, it's just best to play your numbers to avoid all this nonsense.

Wow, that's some BS. The state should revoke their license for even asking that. This is ridiculous. I would avoid those stores too!

For the Scratch offs - This one store that I go to, around noon time, there's these mixes of immigrants Mexican and some others (I think they work across the street and are on break), they don't speak a word of English. It's just funny to me because if you walk in there around noon, it looks like a casino. And they compete against each other to see who bought what and they start arguing etc. When I observe this type of madness, I just don't even bother playing there! It's crazy.

I sure hope not! I do enough arguing at my job everyday. I just want peace, esp when I go to lunch, and the last thing I want is to grab the boxing gloves. I get what you're saying though. I will not play at that place again. Done w. that store.

Nothing like that has happened to me. Although sometimes I get ask for ID when buy tickets even though I'm 26. Maybe because my face hasn't changed that much from when I was a teen.

Here's my gripe - when I go to the counter to get, say 5 QP's for a draw....and instead the clerk runs me ONE  set of numbers for 5 days.  What?

Here's wishing everyone the good fortune they're looking for.  Remember, if you happen to win more than a couple bucks, try and donate a little to one of your favorite charities - keep that positive mojo working!

LOL I know just what you mean. I get my stuff, then get moving. I HATE machine hogs...they have the shifty eyes too.

They're always watching who is 'sneaking' up on them or watching them. They have wild imaginations, someone is always

out to get them...or their tickets. That's why they stand there, always watch their back and stare you down if you dare

approach within 10 feet of their temporary rental unit.

You have to talk to them like they're children. I've explained to some that I'm not buying what they're playing and I'm

going to put in my money and their balance will be there after I get my ticket and they can have the machine back.

I have some old guy where I go to a lot watch me like I'm coming to take his $5 winner...that's all the guy wins, I swear.

He even tries reverse psychology...he'll comment on how bad the tickets are and talk about what he's playing - kind of

feeling me out to see if that's what I'm playing too. I don't want his darn BINGO tickets, he can have them all. I told him

that but I can tell he doesn't believe me. He watches what I buy and I catch him watching me go out and sees exactly what

I have: NO BINGO tickets. He's paranoid. There is NO cure for that. They just don't get it and never will.

Experienced similar situations?- nope, never. We have an Ocean of convenience stores selling lottery tickets out here, you can't make a left/ right turn without running into a sign saying " play lotto here". When l see those pictures on tv with folk lining up round the block, my first reaction is " where on earth is that?"

Just about every gas station/ subway and even water emporiums are selling lottery tickets. There is absolutely no excuse for someone saying " l could not get to a lottery terminal in time out here."

Have to agree here with noise-gate. Us Californians must have an abundance of machines, lol.

I have never had to wait in line for a ticket. There are more than 5 machines available in my own neighborhood within a few blocks of each other. Save Mart,CVS,they are everywhere.

When I go to the grocery store 99.9% of the time I never even see anyone at the self serve machine.

Now this is a far cry from when I used to sell tickets in the late 80's. Only liquor stores sold them. At the store we used to have a line out the door many times when the Jackpot was high. I was on the news 3 times because they used to come in and film everyone buying tickets. That was BIG news back then, lol. Now nobody bats an eyelash.

Then you would feel at home at my neighborhood gas station.  A line will form at 7pm and you had better not get in their way.  This is the closet seller in 4 miles in an area where most people ride the public transportation.  The line will snake around inside and be out the door.  Everyone betting the later they buy the ticket the better chance of it being picked.  It is fun to go in and ask to pay for gas and get to jump to the front of the line.  The looks on their faces is priceless!!
