Are you happier when a regular lottery player who has played for years wins a jackpot over someone who rarely plays or played for the first time and won? I remember watching the lottery tv show on TLC and hearing about a 19 year old guy who won 35 million or something like that and it was his first time playing the lottery. I am sure at any age winning that amount of money is a life changing experience and when you are young (and are conservative about your spending, that money can last for years). The lottery is random and does not know if someone played for years or for the first time. Personally I like to hear about people who have played for years finally winning.  Many times I hear people say that it was their first time playing and they won. Maybe some people just have good luck.  Regardless of how often someone plays it's a life altering experience that has a trickle down effect by being able to help family members and donating to worthwhile charities.

I never buy whole hog the stories that come out of these press conferences of lottery winners.

    Player's first time

    Only played one line

Will use money to save the human race

I am not bothered at all by who wins. I extend my congrats and go back to tweaking my secret lottery recipe so maybe next time it's me.

While it's nice to see someone win who's been a veteran player for years/decades because they believed it was going to happen and they could visualize what they would do when they won(like most of us here). Its also pretty amazing to hear about those stories of "by chance" or they were"in line and saw how high the jackpot was" and "threw a dollar or two thinking they probably would not win".
For me, it's a feel-good story no matter what. It reassures me that they did it by playing and so can I(my big jackpot time has not happened...YET....) Every day in this country, someone will become a jackpot winner  through scratch offs or numerous state sponsored games, then there's chance of the PB or MM 4 night in a week.
So, whether you are a veteran lottery player or a rookie, you have a chance...that lil feeling of "what if" you get when you purchase those tickets...it's an experience I believe will soon change to a reality of "I won"  and I can do the happy dance(like Wesley Snipes did in the movie Major League)Hyper

If you have a Ticket You Can Win It!

It's the Regular Lottery Players that build the Jackpot to the Level that attracts Non-Regular Lottery Players to Buy a Ticket!

I'd rather hear that a Regular Lottery Player Won the Jackpot!

I do think it's nice when someone who's been playing for years finally wins. It doesn't bother me when someone who hasn't wins though. I think a lot of us who play all the time can relate to wanting to be the person who can one day say "Finally I won!" after playing for so long.

That is exactly why I only play MM & PB when the jackpots reach a certain level.

I Agree! I only play when: MM is $15M or above and PB is $40M or above!

I would rather a player win that is in every draw I feel they have paid their dues more and have skin in the game.

I agree with Original Bey that I am very dubious when it comes to these first time I ever played, only bought one ticket, etc.  Unless you buy the ticket on your 18th birthday and win I don't believe you.

                    LOL Good one!

Every drawing no matter the size of the jackpot we face the same astronomical odds. The only difference is our dreams our bigger. At $40m I picture myself on a spanking new skateboard. At $300m I would cough over a few hundred for  new bicycle.

Same here. I can retire immediately on either of those two. You never know if or when fate will strike.

l make no bones about it- l don't give a rats #/% who wins just as long as there are multiple winner's of  colossal Jackpots. This past three way split was refreshing considering that we got a " feel good story" from a woman who really needed it..

I like seeing someone around the same age as me win. It makes me feel like I have a chance. Don't really care if they played regularly or not.
