Greetings to all my fellow New Yorkers! - especially those on eastern Long Island [Suffolk County].

No ---- don't be fooled by the above subject line of my post. It does not refer to a real news item, online or otherwise. I was just being facetious, because the above title could convey just the right impression of the folks at the New York State Lottery.

Why?

Has anyone seen the new bet slips for New York State Lottery's Win4 game?

THEY ARE HORRIBLE......and I've posted the same on my regular Facebook page and theirs. The new bet slips have one less game panel, and the printing is much smaller.  One has to wonder if somebody up at New York State Lottery headquarters is indulging in any number of substances while on company time!

This is only a small example of why a lot of people are leaving New York State.  New York State seems to have the philosophy of  'if it's not broken, fix it anyway, and make it worse.'

I went out to various places to grab a number of the old Win4 bet slips before they disappear. The Riverhead Stationery store on Main Street has pulled all the old slips from their counters, but THE OLD SLIPS STILL WORK.

I know, because I'm still using them.

Let's hope this bad decision will not last and somebody at lottery headquarters will come to their senses.

In the meantime, folks, if you want to hang on to the old slips, get busy tracking them down to stock your own supply. I found some at the very popular Cumberland Farms Convenience Store & Gas Station  in Manorville [ Exit 70 off the L.I.E./495 ].

I never play Win4 but it has to do with the new type of bet, "Close Enough".

Last night in my local Stewart's Shop (I'm in Dutchess County) I saw a piece of paper printed from the NY Lottery lying on the counter talking about the new bet type, Close Enough.  It has to do with one-offs...if the number you picked is one off from the winning number, and you chose that type of bet, you can win money.  On the reverse side of it, it showed how to mark the new bet/play slip. This new bet type just started a few days ago.  G5

About playing the lottery --  You will lose more than you win. Until you hit a jackpot.  Then everything changes!
