The holder of the original ticket cannot find it, he/ she has searched " everywhere" but has come up empty. Apologies have been flying left & right but everyone is ticked off. The entire pool has copies of all the tickets purchased- but in order to claim the prize- the lottery insists on having the original ticket presented as verification of the win..copies won't do. What would be your options or next move?

How big was the jackpot won? How many are in the pool? Is it time to take our Australian's suggestion to change our lottery system?

What would be my next move? Beat the crap out of the ticket holder. LOL! Don't know why the lottery needs the "original ticket"? A copy shows the numbers and the bar code, which can't be scammed because that info is held in the confidential computer system. Seems just an excuse for the state to further rape its citizens.

Are you saying something about pools? I led one during the record-breaking PB jackpot. Never again.

I should have billed the pool for the expenses I incurred. Solo for me, no more pools.

Good question. I would ask lottery officials if they could not use video tape from the store and compare it to the time stamp on the ticket and the person who bought the ticket and the show the copy of the ticket. Other than that, dont think much more

I would imagine gas to go the store (and back), time waiting on line with all the other people hoping to win $1.5 billion, photo copies (or paper & ink if scan & printing)

I agree--contact the lottery and see what they say. Who knows, maybe in 6 months the person may find the original ticket.

TheMeatMan2000 answered correctly. Mostly toner and copy paper. I did not use the computer to send emails to each player. Plus the gas and time spent on the game. It did make that draw a memorable one.

I'm not gonna lie, I've debated for a while before making any comment on this. Simply because it's an excellent question to which I have no answer and in responding to it, I'm probably giving it enough weight and credence for the universe to make sure it to happens to me.

I'm sure regardless of outcome, there's a part of me that would want the person weeded out of the gene pool permanently. Though I'd hope I would accept the situation with civility and grace with the mindset that it wasn't meant to be. But odds are I'd probably end up weeping into a pint of Hagen Daz and start calling lawyers.

I too would prefer Cersei Lannister to Tiny Hands. She always pays her debts, hasn't filed 6 bankruptcies and is educated enough to know Nambia isn't a country.

Expenses??

I have brought tickets for going on 5 years every week for 'my' club..

Gas to go to the store? I go BY the store on the way home from work. And I make one copy and ask someone at work to make the remaining copies.. And if I don't get the copies made I text or email them. Not really a huge deal.

As for the ticket question? Mine sit in my printer at home till the next draw ..
If I am 'in charge' I best know where the ticket is !
