OK here my humble abridged take:
With your reference to 80 numbers I'm assuming an 8 row, 10 column, 80-number board.
There are 9 adjacent pairs in each of 8 rows - 72 in all.
There are 7 adjacent pairs in each of 10 columns - 70 in all.
The first row consists of 10 numbers - 1 through 10. There are 45 pairs possible using these numbers. With 8 rows there are 360 different pairs possible using only two numbers in the same row.
Beyond coincidence and blind luck factor, the math says in that there are 3160 accumulative grand total pairs to begin with but after some approx 165 played games this total is could be reduced to say 5 pairs. These pairs could be played as 2-4-6-8-10 spots together.
The first column consists of 8 numbers - 1,11,21,31,41,51,61 and 71. There are 28 pairs possible using these numbers. With 10 columns there are 280 different pairs possible using only two numbers in the same column.
Most gamblers will lose all that they have plus everything that they don't have, if they don't have a methodology that over comes the expectation!

I skimmed through this thread, but did not see any clear methods for calculating the odds.
To calculate the total number of combinations I use the following code:
Public Function Calc_Permutations(ByVal Base As Integer, ByVal Digits As Integer) As Long
m_Base = Base
m_Digits = Digits
Dim BaseSum As Long = 1
Dim DigitsSum As Long = 1
For DC = 0 To Digits - 1
BaseSum = BaseSum * (Base - DC)
DigitsSum = DigitsSum * (Digits - DC)
Next
m_TotalCombos = BaseSum / DigitsSum
Return m_TotalCombos
End FunctionPublic Function Calc_Variable_Odds(ByVal NumBase As Byte, ByVal WinDigits As Byte, ByVal PickDigits As Byte, ByVal Target As Byte) As Long
Dim WinPerm As Long = Calc_Permutations(WinDigits, (PickDigits - (PickDigits - Target)))
Dim NonPerm As Long = Calc_Permutations(NumBase - WinDigits, PickDigits - Target)
Return Calc_Permutations(NumBase, PickDigits) / IIf(WinPerm * NonPerm = 0, 1, WinPerm * NonPerm)
End FunctionThe results as they compare to the published odds.
We're not about calculating probability but winning while ignoring probability, cost and payout.
I understand that you like to show Microsoft Visual Basic. You get the odds on any website. -

I had a look at adjacent numbers in the past but never was looking for them. In forms there also is a form of adjacent as vertical or horizontal neighbour. I heard of people marking the winning numbers on the play forms to see what came out on that display.
You also might have a look at diagonal neighbours. -

The Keno Random Number Generator, Past & Present Reality
How Video Keno RNG Really Works:
Random number generators have been used since the late 1970’s and early 1980’s in electronic gaming machines. Electronic pokie machines contained the first RNGs in casinos. These computer chips allowed the machine to randomize numerals without the need of mechanical pokies reels.
Instead, the software ran an algorithm through the computer chip and produced a result. Each possible outcome was given its own number designation. The possible results with a higher probability were given multiple numbers, while the rarest possibility (the jackpot sequence) was given few, perhaps one, number.
When a random one of these numbers was generated, this was matched against the reel positions corresponding to that number and the result was flashed on the screen. In this way, randomized reel positions were created, allowing the machine to determine whether someone was a winner or loser. This freed game designers to create ever more elaborate game dynamics.
The old mechanical system had only so much room to spare, so only 3 reels could fit in the box and those reels could have only a certain number of icons on them. Bigger boxes had one been used to produce more reels and icons, but they were too big and clunky to be cost-effective. The RNG allowed designers to create 5-reel and even 7-reel games.
The new technology also made possible the progressive jackpot. With all the new innovations in game design, poker machines became the most popular game in casinos and the most profitable game for casino owners. While the pokies were evolving, game design companies began toying around with the idea of applying the new technology to other games.
In time, all would be converted to RNGs for the online casino industry, but the lotto style games were of particular interest to software development people, because of the astronomical mathematics needed to produce some of their results.
Traditional Draw Systems
The traditional game of keno came out of a China’s gambling city of Macau in the mid-19th century. The city was ruled by Portugal at the time, so it appears the lottery game was transplanted to China in 1847 or a few years earlier. 1847 is when the first mention of lotto games in China entered the written record, though gambling legends suggest the game came much earlier (even funding the Great Wall of China).
The earliest sheets used the first 80 characters in a famous Chinese poem known as the Thousand Character Classic. “Characters” are the Chinese equivalent to letters of the alphabet, though their language uses symbols to convey a meaning, not build words. When the game was transplanted to the United States, draws for keno used lottery or bingo style balls painted with these (or other) characters, which were drawn out of a hopper or other randomizing container: either rabbit ear blower, an automated blower called an “AKV”, or a spinning metal ball cage called a hand cage.
In time, the numbers 1 through 80 became standard in Western casinos.
Pay Schedules
The game uses a pay schedule much like you would see on poker machines or video poker games. Each number of catches comes with a different size payout. This payout number is multiplied by the amount of money you wagered. If you bet $2 and the payout says 10, you win $20.
These pay schedules go up to the maximum number of catches, though players can’t expect to win beyond a 15-ball catch. Gamblers need to know you never win back your stake, even if you win.
RNG Design and Keno
Most lottery games in the West use somewhere between 38 and 55 number possibilities, with 6 numbers drawn. Increasing the number options to 80 and having 20 balls increases the possible combinations to astronomical proportions. The odds of hitting all 20 spots is 1 in 3.5 quintillion, a number so far removed from our common everyday experience that it’s impossible to imagine.
With such a high number of possible outcomes, the keno RNG needs to be able to calculate and spit out numbers at a lightning fast rate. Remember back to discussion to the reel positions of pokies and all the possible symbol combinations. Now think of all the possible combinations which have to be counted up in this game and you’ll see why the keno random number generator has to handle a much larger number of calculations. Quintillions of options must be randomized.
Thousands of results are produced every second. Just like slot machines: When the keno draw occurs, the RNG chooses the number current for that split-second and matches it against the 20 spots chosen for the corresponding number in the sequence. That’s how a keno result is reached with an RNG.

And appreciation for gaming expert & author Michael Shackleford

"you’re still way better off playing keno than you are playing any state lottery."
~ Michael Shackelford (gaming & odds author & expert)
Michael Shackleford’s site. You can input various situations, and his calculator will spit out what kind of payback percentage and what kinds of odds you can expect on a keno bet.
How to Play Keno
Keno’s just a game where you guess numbers, just like the lottery. You get a keno card with numbers from 1 to 80. You can choose how many numbers you want to bet on. The more numbers you get right when you bet, the bigger your payoff. Of course, the more numbers you bet, the less likely you are to a see a win. And the odds against you get astronomical pretty quickly.
According to Shackleford’s page about keno, the game isn’t offered by as many casinos as it used to be, which doesn’t surprise me. It always seemed like a game that elderly people would enjoy. My guess is that a lot of the clientele who used to play keno died off. (Sorry if that sounds morbid. That’s not my intention.)
In 2001, Shackleford did a survey of the payback percentages for various keno games in various casinos. The payback percentages ranged from as low as 65% to almost 80%.
This means that the house edge on a keno bet is between 20% and 35%. That’s an astronomical number when you compare it with the 0.5% house edge on a blackjack or video poker bet.
How to Win at Keno
You’ll see various websites hawking information products that tell you how to win at keno. They’re all scams. The people who wrote these websites or these information products might believe what they’ve written, but deluding yourself is just as dishonest as deluding someone else, so I have little respect for people selling “how to win at keno” systems.
If you want to play keno, go for it. But don’t be stupid about it. Understand that it’s a game with a huge negative expectation, and get ready to lose quickly and often because of the high house edge.
All that being said, you’re still way better off playing keno than you are playing any state lottery.

Add our one ball lottery game French roulette to this! 1/37 house edge. Even roulette is better and many are shy of it! Spin by hand or mechanic, immediate payout, pure class!
18/37 = net 100% win
500/1000 at pick 3 = net 0% win

Meantime appreciate these strategies from CasinoFreak:
Eddessa_Knight with lucky Light
Most Frequent Winning Keno Numbers
"1. What Are Keno Spots and Catches?
“Catching” the numbers at keno is what any gambler wants; actually to “catch” a number mean to correctly guess that number and already have it marked on your keno ticket. A player’s winning is determined by the number of “catches” he made in the game; the maximum number is 20 “catches”, which never happened before. A jackpot is touched when you achieved 15 “catches”. The “spots” are the number marked on the tickets, a gambler is playing on. The number of “catches” and “spots” are related; for example, when you have 10 spots and 6 catches, means you bought 10 numbers and 6 of them were a winner, being picked by the keno draw.
2. The Most Drawn Numbers in Keno
These are the 5 hot numbers (often drawn): 23, 34, 72, 1 and 4. Most frequent state draws numbers to the numbers that have come out quite often in the last 50 draw are 3, 16, 44, 58 and 78. As much drawn numbers a gambler has his tickets, as much he will collect. The maximum of drawing numbers is 20, but actually, no one hit 10 out of 20 numbers ever (and is not possible). Even to guess 15 numbers is really hard, as much as for guessing 14 numbers the odds are 1:390 million. The frequency of numbers extraction must be observed, noted and then played to ensure bigger changes to the gambler.
3. Hot Spots
According to statistics shows the last 50 draw number that came most often was 66, 20 times extracted. The second, drawn 18 times, are numbers 61, 67 and 74, shows the statistics. Most frequent state draws numbers to the numbers that have come out quite often in the last 50 draw are3, 16, 44, 58 and 78. However, according to the source, were drawn 17 times. According to statistics opposite the numbers of players considered “cold”, the “champion” is number 12. It was extracted only five times. Other two numbers are “cold”, 23 and 7, extracted seven times.
4. Cold and Late Numbers
Under this system, the “hot” numbers are considered those that have the highest frequency of occurrence (were extracted at least once every five contests), and the “cold’ numbers are those that have the lowest frequency of occurrence (were removed from the box at most once every 15 draws). Also, there are other types of numbers, like “late”, which is a number having a big potential to be picked, but not yet picked and “ due” number, which mean it is a “must to pick” number in the next future.
5. Staring into the Abyss
The game of keno is based on a high dose of unpredictability, as it is the result of an RNG; random numbers are hard to be predicted, especially they’re the result of computer choice. Anyway, there is a big difference between statistics and computer patterns, as the numbers are supposed not to be extracted in the same order or the same. Even that some numbers are picked often than others that don’t mean it is a regular pattern
.
6. The Truth behind Lucky Numbers
In a keno game, there is only one truth: the biggest prize is won with the highest number of picked numbers. In this case, a total of 20 numbers (which have been established that is impossible). From 6 to 10 picked numbers, any player has the opportunity to win at keno; up to 15 numbers can hit the jackpot. All keno gamblers (bingo and lottery too) have their own “lucky” numbers, on which they often play. But, in keno, even it is a game of pure luck; some strategy could work better than playing on “lucky” numbers. There is, anyway, no restriction on playing with your favorite numbers, although it will better for your pocket to choose a safe strategy.
7. Chinese Lucky Numbers
Originated in the China the keno game becomes famous in the SUA in the 19th century; it spread into the world, lately. Chinese people have a great consideration of luck that is why they choose to associate some numbers with mystical connotation. Keno game has some “special” numbers in the Chinese conception, so here are their meanings: Number 6 represents the wealth and is the number of businesses in China; Number 8 has a great magical connotation and power, being the number of prosperity and wealth; Number 9 it is the number of the Chinese Emperor, having also spiritual connotations (harmony and cultural meanings)."

The recently made an easypick 20/80 for Keno, posted, and held a 50 payout day 2 for Michigan, in response to a loserspost on lp. Add freeplays.
Easypick instead of full wheel 10/70. You see the problem in the amount of lines to play.
I might add easypick 7/70, 10 lines easypick.
I posted a similar system for MegaMillions, but it was removed from the systemsforum, where it belonged, as it is in fact a system. If that isn't a system, you can remove nearly every single pick 3 and pick 4 post of the systems forum!

"An interesting week in keno. The 8-spot progressive at the Atlantis hit at $424,000, not bad for a $1.50 bet! Still, we have the 10-spot statewide Mega10 Megakeno now at nearly $2.1 million and rising, and The Atlantis Casino Reno 9-spot approaching $1.4 million.
Keno progressives are definitely not boring!
In past columns we have concentrated a lot on the dime and quarter per way player. Perhaps you are willing to spend up to $1 a way as you want to go for a five figure payout. The higher number of spots will have this even at very low levels but if you would like a five figure payout ($10,000 and up) betting more will allow you to get there with better odds.
If you find a good low level ticket or rate (Dean Rate at The D for example) just bet more per way. Playing at 60 cents at the Deano Rate a 7-spot would get you $10,500 for a solid hit.
Let’s look at some 60-cents-per-way options to get you that big hit.
Play eight kings. A king is a single circled number on a ticket or a group of one. It looks like 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1. Play one 8 and eight 7s. Since The D allows as low as 10 cents a way provided the ticket costs as least $4, you can play a single ticket at 20 cents for the 8 and 60 cents each for the eight 7s, making the total ticket price a nice round $5.
If hitting at least 7 of the 8 you have a five figure win. You get $350 for the 7 out of 8, $10,500 for the solid 7 and $52.50 for each of the siven 6 out of 7s that you also hit. Thus your total win is $11,217.50.
Now if you hit all eight solid you win $5,000 for the solid 8 and $10,500 for each of the eight solid 7s for a total of $89,000. Hitting 6 of the 8 numbers gets you $15, $52.50 for each of two 6 out of 7s and $1.75 for each of the six 5 of 7s for a grand total of $130.50.
With the Deano rate at The D even paying on even 3 out of 7, albeit half your bet, you still do get part of your bet back. Thus you will get a lot of action for your $5 bet about 6 to 10 times an hour depending on game speed. The overall payback on this rate is about 85%, the best in Las Vegas for low and moderate level tickets.
Plus, betting $5 a game the comps should build up as well. Just remember to give your players card to the writer for every ticket purchase.
Thus go for it. A five figure payout is within reach playing keno for no more than the standard minimum craps or blackjack bet and you are at risk only 6 to 10 times an hour. It doesn’t get much better than this, a very real limit on losses and the possibility of a very large win.
You are not tied to a table, just give in your ticket. Of course check with the keno writers or the pay books on how long you can wait to redeem winning tickets. Make sure you comply with the deadlines of course.
If you play this at The D it is OK to play over your head there as the keno lounge is on the second floor.
If you want to chase the Megakeno Progressive for a shot at $2 million plus for a solid 10 out of 10 the two best places are the Excalibur on the Strip and the El Cortez downtown, as their pay book for lesser hits is the better of the two for Megakeno. If you are in Reno play that big 9-spot progressive.
Great games all over, go for it!"

I play the keno lottery draw in Canada, it goes as high as the number #70. So, I pick up to 8 numbers out of the number #70 to play almost, every day!
Does it get frustrating, where i want to give up-= Yes; but it is better to try my luck, then rely on finding a half decent job-
I'd rather play the lottery!
My mother used to tell me- you can't win the lottery- if you don't buy a ticket..
Have a prosperous day!
