This is a question about the maximum amount of drawing history to have in the Lotto Logic Pro. In a way, this is an inquiry about sample size. I am just seeking some clarification here.
I posed the question that I am writing down below to the folks at Timersoft and only got this answer:
"These are only recommendations, it's your tool to do with whatever you feel is best."
I am asking this question because the folks who made Lotto Logic Pro are rather vague on this issue as anyone who reflects on this issue can see. I will quote the relevant part of the Lotto Logic Pro manual here:
"Concepts (Why only 1 to 2 years' worth of entries)
This is just a recommendation in believing that too much information can do more harm than good. After a year or two I think it would be safe to say that they are not using the same machine or parts and have replaced some balls or all the balls. I think it is even safer to say that they are not using the same machine or balls from 10 years ago provided your lottery has been around that long. An average of 1 to 2 years worth of entries keeps your data fresh with current results. For example, if you have 10 years' worth of entries, Range Finder will find the best ranges using these entries. Unfortunately the machines or parts and balls have probably changed and so the results are technically correct but really incorrect because the machine and ball variables have changed."
As you can see upon reading the above quote, it should be obvious that it is quite ambiguous. The reason is that some lotteries are only drawn 2 times a week and others such as Mass Cash are drawn 7 days a week. A lottery that is drawn 2 times a week would have a total of 104 drawings in 1 year and 208 drawings in 2 years. A lottery that is drawn 7 days a week would have 365 drawings in 1 year and 730 drawings in 2 years.
As you can see there is quite a range from 104 drawings to 730 drawings.
So the real question is what is the maximum range of the number of drawings that is recommended to be entered into Lotto Logic Pro.
This is a particularly good question for someone with expertise in statistics and probability to take on.
I would appreciate it very much if someone out there would make some suggestions or recommendations regarding this question. I am particularly interested in any recommendations concerning lotteries that are drawn 7 days a week such as Mass Cash.
Thank you very much in advance for shining some light on this matter.
Sincerely,
Kosh
