How to Claim
Winning tickets with a value up to and including $600 may be redeemed at any Maryland Lottery retailer. Winning tickets with a value of $5,000 or less may be redeemed at any Maryland Lottery XCAP location (formerly Agent Plus). Winning tickets with a value of $25,000 or less may be redeemed at either of the two Maryland Lottery Customer Resource Centers below. All winning tickets, including tickets with a value over $25,000 may be redeemed at the Maryland Lottery Customer Resource Center in Baltimore only. Please allow at least 15 business days for processing a claim for any winning tickets with a value above $25,000.
When cashing a ticket above $600 you must present proof of your social security number and photo ID proof of being at least 18 years of age. Double check your photo ID and Social Security card to ensure your name is exactly the same on both documents as they need to match exactly to claim your winnings. Some acceptable forms of identification are:
An original signed card from the Social Security Administration;
A health insurance card containing your name and social security number;
A driver’s license containing your name and social security number;
A Medicare Card;
A Military ID;
A W-2 form or a pay stub issued by the claimant’s employer; or,
A 1099 form issued by a bank or other financial institution.
Players who win large prize amounts are encouraged to claim their winnings at the Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
Subscription prizes will be automatically paid to winners by mail.
Jackpot Prizes
Multi-Match will be paid as an annuity in 25 equal annual installments.
Mega Millions will be paid as an annuity with one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments.
Powerball will be paid as an annuity of 30 graduated payments over 29 years.
All jackpot prizes will be paid as an annuity unless the winner selects the “cash” payment method within 60 days of the ticket validation date, even though the winner has 182 days after the drawing to claim the jackpot prize. The “cash” payment amount will be lower than the announced jackpot prize. Variations in the announced jackpot prize may occur.
For prize payments over $5,000 taxes will be withheld as follows:
25% Federal Tax
8.75% State tax (Maryland residents)
7.5 % State Tax (non-Maryland residents)

Please remember to include your social security number, proof of your social security number and photo ID proof of being at least 18 years of age. Some acceptable forms of ID are noted above.
