Pennsylvania is again offering a News Years raffle starting Tuesday Nov-7th with weekly $100,000 early bird drawings.
Haven't seen details yet, but likely same as in past years. My guess is 500,000 tickets as usual. And, as in past raffles, likely: 4 $1 million prizes, 4 $100K prizes, 100 $1K prizes, and 5,892 $100 prizes.

I wonder if they (Virginia) will offer more prizes. Earlier this year they sent me a survey and the questions asked about having more prizes and having a raffle drawing more than once per year.

Their website is updated. 3 million dollar winners, 5 $100,000 winners, and 500 $50 winners. Selling 375,000 tickets. I might go with Virginia because $100,000 would also be helpful. ;)

I just checked PA and they have the same odds for $1,000,000. Selling more tickets at 500,000 with 4 million dollar winners. They also have $100,000 winners.
Florida is still showing 2016-2017 results, so it's not looking good.

It was hard for me to believe that PA wouldn't have a New Year's raffle in 2018. They've been holding raffles at least twice per year since 2003. But they did manage to scare me a bit this Fall. In the past, they started advertising the New Years Raffle in October on their website. Until just recently there was no mention of it, and even then I had to dig down to find it. Tickets went on sale yesterday.
For the first time this past July, PA, held eight "Early Bird" drawings. If you bought a ticket during the first week they were on sale, your ticket number was entered in an "Early Bird" drawing along with all of the other ticket numbers sold during that first week. The prize was $100,000 and your ticket number was still eligible to win a million dollars in the Grand Prize drawing held around July 4th. There were more Early Bird drawings for only the tickets sold that particular week held each week prior to the big drawing held in July, so those extra drawings produced 8 or 9 extra $100,000 winners.
PA's idea was to entice players to buy tickets early in the sales cycle as opposed to what typically happened in the past - most people held off until about a week prior to a drawing to buy tickets. PA's idea worked. Ticket were selling at a faster pace early on in the cycle. G5

Massachusetts stopped doing raffles in 2014. I don't know why. I liked them. Rhode Island stopped doing them also a few years back. And they were extremely popular too in RI. It was a big thing. I got 1 RI raffle ticket once in 2011. I wish they do them again so I can take another trip out there. I went out to to Connecticut to get 3 of there raffle tickets a couple weeks ago. $1,000,000 prize at 1 in 275,000 odds. Hopefully I can get lucky.

Florida stopped doing them, in part, because they didn't make enough money. They would release 750,000 tickets and only sell about 600,000. They still made a profit, but it was minor. Basically, they made just as much profit on a few nights of Fantasy 5 drawings. Plus it cost a lot to advertise and promote. With that said, I'd like to see it come back with a small ticket pool. It's possible they bring it back in the summer.

Do any of you have a raffle strategy? If you are going to buy 10 tickets... Do you think it's better to buy all 10 at one time? Or space out buying tickets over a few weeks yo end up with 10?

Seems like PA is hardly promoting this raffle, the one earlier in the year they hit the ads early during the first week of sales.
