  I'm curious about something that I think will take some programming skills to arrive at an answer.  If I had the ability to write code, I'd do it myself, but I've never written a single line of code in my life.

  First, let me forewarn that what I'm looking to get an answer to is not going help anybody win a big jackpot.  "So why bother if it's not going help me win a jackpot?" is definitely a fair question. I cant say as I'd blame anybody with coding skills for passing on writing the code. My request definitely falls into the category of "That's interesting/nice, but who gives a hoot?"

  Here goes anyway.

  New York's 5/39 game, Take5, has had 53 sets of five numbers drawn twice over 7,715 drawings.  For instance, this combo ===> 3 4 31 33 35 was first drawn on March 13, 2014 and it was drawn again one week later on March 20, 2014.  California's Fantasy 5 has had 8,187 drawings and 64 times there has been a set of five numbers that had previously been drawn.  There are other states that have seen this same thing happen with their 5/39 games too. 

  Here's what I want to know - has any one of the 53 duplicated sets drawn in NY ever been drawn elsewhere? If so, how many times has it happened?  My guess is that it isn't many!  I am willing to bet however that any given set of five winning numbers drawn in NY has also been drawn in some other state(s)

  So curiosity is killing this cat.  If you have the skills and way too much spare time on your hands, let me know. I'll supply the duplicated sets of numbers, you supply the code that compares the sets of five that reveals the answer. G5

  Premium members can check any lottery with any group of combinations any time without any programming skills.  Regular members can do the same using states lottery websites.

   * you don't need to buy every combination, just the winning ones *

  there is no need for any special programming skills... you can use just an ordinary calculator to figure out how the statistics in regards to this matter might look like.... let's for example consider CA Fantasy 5 lotto... this is a 5/39 game which means that there are 575.757 different (unique) combinations exist... in accordance with normal statistical distribution the statistics in the theoretical case of 575.757 consecutive draws would look like the following:

  there would be about 383.838 unique combinations played...

  among them about 127,946 would play more than once; 

  42,649 - would play more than twice;

  14,216 -more than 3 times;

  4,738 - more than 4 times;

  1,580 - more than 5 times;

  527 - more than 6 times;

  175 - more than 7 times;

  58 - more than 8 times... and so on....

   

  as of today there are 8.962 draws have taken place, which is 1.55% of 575.757 draws and therefore the frequency of the same combinations played more than ones should be distributed accordingly... theoretically a flawless PRNG ( pseudo random numbers generator) would have produced about 1,983 JP winning combinations that played more than once and at least one of those combinations that would have played more than 7 times by today... however in reality it all depends on the quality of the software used in their PRNG...

  The chances that NY will draw the same set of numbers that have won previously is exactly the same as the chance of another state drawing those numbers, for equal numbers of drawings. If NY has drawn 7,762 unique combinations there's a 7,762 in 575,757 chance of drawing one of those previous combinations in the next drawing, and the same is true of the next drawing in any other state that has a 5/39 game. If the next drawing doesn't produce a repeat there will be 7,763 unique combinations and the chance of a repeat in the next drawing will be a little bit higher. And so on, every time a drawing results in another unique combination. Eventually it becomes all but certain that another state will have drawn a combination that has won in NY.

  The 53 combinations that NY has drawn more than twice represent about 1 of every 10,863 combinations. If another state had done 10,863 drawings there would be just about a 63.2% chance that one of them would match one of the 53 repeats from NY. The same would be true for another state that had done 10,863 drawings. Between those two states there would be a .368 x .368 = 13.5% chance of not matching one of the 53 combinations, or an 86.5% chance that there would be a match. I don't know how many states offer 5/39 or the total number of drawings between those states, but I think it's extremely likely that some of the 53 combinations from NY have been drawn in other states.

    In the same circumstances, the lottery is only in the beginning
    But can do to go updating many draws do automatic
