I would play the winning numbers that winners won with. Now we understanding odds and combinations. That was just dumb.

I once drove through fog at night to buy tickets. I did not need to do that.

Not checking my numbers when the clerk gives them back to me. One time I was playing ALL the numbers of a Sum 7 in the 4 way (boxed) and failed to check my tickets and guess what - sum 7 came out and I DIDNT have it. If I remember right I had the winning number on a playslip which I forgot to hand the clerk!!! Missed out on $200.

You know those nice protective sleeves that you get from the lottery that you put your slips in ? I went to the store the next day after either the PB or MM draw(forget which one it was) pull out my slip with 5 sets of chosen numbers, get the ticket, then place the ticket and the slip back in the sleeve....It's the day of the next draw and its around 8 PM, so I look on my desk where I put my tickets..NOT There ....oh crap, I forgot to get my tickets this week, off to the store I go, quickly pull out the slip, go inside and get my 5 picks.. whewwwww, made it..Good to go....Get back in the car, put my slip back in the sleeve and what do I see ??.. You guessed it...The other ticket and to add insult, I didn't win a thing.

I've occasionally bought tickets twice, too.

For the current PB run I happened to be in a state where I can be anonymous and pay less in state tax, so I bought tickets with 3 advance plays, and a second set of numbers that I play when the jackpot gets high enough. I also got 3 advance plays for MM. Unfortunately I handed the clerk the slip with only my usual PB numbers as well as the slip with both sets and the MM slip, so I spent $6 on a ticket I didn't mean to buy. I won a few bucks with the MM ticket but of course I only won that prize once, instead of getting lucky and having the match on my usual PB numbers and winning twice.

By far the dumbest thing I've done is spending a lot of money on a lot of losing tickets over the years.

NOT WIN. I dont like looking in the box I store all my losers and getting depressed. And all the different games I played when they got worth something to throw a few bucks at. NOTE: Still didnt win lol, well anything worth a hill of beans.

Did you ever add them all up? I did that 2 years in a row and was like

Before you play there are 2 choices to make. Low sum or high sum and consecutive pair or no consecutive pair. Choose correctly and you go from 120 combos down to 30. Not a bad starting point.

The dumbest thing I ever did was, I had this number that I KNEW was going to hit. I'm talking "$20 straight knew". I played it for two days. The third day I had a mid- morning doctors appointment.

I figured I'd be out of there in time to get the tickets on the way home. I wasn't, and the number came in straight. Ten years later and I'm still like

The last time we had green ball I asked a man in the store "what are you playing " ........ 419 straight is his reply he got 20K on the number I didn't even write it one time

Back when the lottery was new 991 came I got up went to a grocery store "we're closed for the lottery now" , went to a gas station also got the same thing lottery is shut down for the night , told my son oh well we missed the number tonight told my friends online to play it they won and the gas station that I passed to get to the two other stores did lottery for another hr . I still get upset about that loss .

Often when I play an Evening Pick 3 I find out later the the Evening number I played hit the Nidday.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any. So many systems, so many theories, so few jackpot winners.

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

I will tell you the 2nd dumbest thing I did and that was trying to read MO's yellow posting. I stood up and looked down,tried to view it from the sides,put sunglasses on... I just about self detached my retina from my eye socket trying to figure out what he wrote. Then I was about to replay after almost going partially blind and WAA LAA. It was hard to read. I'm glad he didn't use the yellow background too.
