Stopped at a place called Hucks today to get gas.

There's a scratcher machine so I wondered where the play slips were for the lotto.

(Not all machines around here are lotto and instants, some are just scratcher machines.)

So when I got up to the counter to pay for the fuel I noticed that the play slips were behind the counter, out of reach to anyone who wanted one.

Also there a liquor store here where a few of the clerks let it be known they don't like running tickets, especially if you're there just for lotto and don't buy any booze.Get off your high horses, you're already selling liquor.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any. So many systems, so many theories, so few jackpot winners.

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

A phone call to the right Lottery agency or office should fix that problem.

You would think so but I'm so far downstate that the stores never even got Flutie Flaks, I'm still waiting.

There's a saying "the dog barks in Chicago and wags its tail in Springfield."

We're over 100 miles closer to Nashville, TN than Chicago. A guy from Chicago once told us that "anything south of 183rd street is 'downstate.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any. So many systems, so many theories, so few jackpot winners.

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

Coin Toss, Thanks for the update. Are you where the police cars hide in traps to catch the tourists? Or are you so far South that you never see a police car.

Will where you move to after you win? You don't have to answer that question if you want to hide where you will be.

I won $500 on Cash4Life at a local gas station. They have the same setup and you can tell they don't like selling lottery tickets or scratch off tickets. If you think they get an attitude about selling, you can imagine their attitude about cashing one in. When I checked and saw that you can cash anything under $600 in a store I took it back there. I even told them it was a big winner, did they have enough money. They never asked me how much, just grunted and checked the ticket.

The employee then got the manager because of how much it was, and he had an absolute meltdown about me taking all their cash. I tried explaining to him that I tried to warn the guy, but I didn't feel comfortable walking back out with my ticket only when a huge line had developed behind me and everyone there knew how much the ticket was worth.

They finally paid me, and yes, I did complain to the lottery and the gas station chain. The chain sent me a free coffee voucher in the mail and I never heard anything from the lottery. I still buy my tickets there though because I've been super lucky at their vending machine. I can't wait to tick the guy off again lol

There's a county a few counties south of where I am that truckers avoid because it's known for speed traps.........this is near the Illinois - Missouri - Kentucky area. The truckers know it takes an extra hour to avoid it but consider it worth it.

If I ever did won and moved it would be to some place cooler, dryer, and not near any river.

It's only a nickel on the dollar and lots store clerks will say some of the players are very annoying. I had to stop playing Keno at a couple of stores because I didn't want to get shut out and watch the numbers being drawn. Possibly one of the reasons the lottery decided to sell Keno tickets online.

Just to pay minimum wage, stores must sell $155 worth of tickets an hour so it not exactly a money making proposition.

I assume they don't sell 155$ an hour worth of Slurpies or HotDogs either. And they won't get 50,000$ bonus for selling a winning fountain drink either. Here in Illinois, vendors get x% and they also get y% for cashing in a winning ticket, no matter where sold.

Now if they get those pick3-4 players that bring in stacks of 50+ unchecked tickets, and have the cashier run them all thru the machine for 15 minutes... I can understand the reluctance to sell them.

Try cashing one at a quick trip in wi. Money order they gave me and no one will cash it. Went back they will give me a 500.00 gift card.

A money order? A gift card? I don't think so.

I would take that up with the Wisconsin lottery pronto.

Before you play there are 2 choices to make. Low sum or high sum and consecutive pair or no consecutive pair. Choose correctly and you go from 120 combos down to 30. Not a bad starting point.

Maybe the clerks don’t like selling them but convenience store owners LOVE the lottery. I just read recently that 95% of people who go into a store to buy a lottery ticket also buy something else and, on average, spend over $10. In my state the association that represents gas stations and convenience stores lobbied hard against the state allowing online ticket sales because that would stop people from coming into the stores to purchase tickets. They were successful in stopping online sales.

I laughed when I read that store clerks say some of the players are annoying. A lot of players think that not only are the clerks annoying but also dishonest.
