  The illinois lottery web page publishes a table of payouts for all games except Pick 3 and Pick 4.  This data would be be helpful in fine tuning the wagers one places on these two games.  It should not be  too hard to do. 

   

  For example:

  Midday Pick 4:   1234

  Winners:  Straight $250  = 12      Straight $500  =  10    Box  $40 = 21   Box $80  =  15

  They need to take a hint from the Missouri lottery website.

  Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any. So many systems, so many theories, so few jackpot winners. 

  

  There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

  How would knowing this information help in fine tuning wagers?

  If you want to see the payouts for a game, go to the Lottery Post results page for the state (www.lotterypost.com/results/mi) and click on the Payouts link directly next to the game.

   

  Check the State Lottery Report Card
  What grade did your lottery earn?

  There is a certain positive energy that comes with knowing the payouts.   I can't put my finger on it in a way that is clear enough to articulate here.   But the energy is there for me when I see the payout info.

  I would quit playing the two games if I saw (for example) that constantly only 1 or 2 tickets were actually being paid on straights.

   

  @Todd:  I checked the link you provided.  Unfortunately, it does not provide the info I am looking for.    I need  a breakdown such as provided in my table in the first post of this thread.  For example, for the number 729 in pick 3 last night, how many people won in each playing category

   

  .50 cts straight   $250   22 winning tickets

  $ 1 straight         $500    12  winning tickets   etc

  Ask the clerk where you buy your lottery tickets to print out the drawing results on the Lottery Terminal.
