Why Some People Are Just Plain Lucky??
Scientific Studies Reveal The Lucky Principles of a Charmed Life
Introduction
Philosophers, scientists and gamblers alike have pondered the mysteries of lady luck from the beginning of time. Putting good luck charms and superstition aside, it’s largely accepted that a lucky day is simply a matter of random events. It’s something that just happens. If you happen to be in the right place at the right time, it’s your lucky day, right? Still, you’ve noticed that some people have lives that are more charmed than others. Why is that? Is luck just fate, or can you change it? And more importantly, if your luck in life can be changed, can your gambling luck be changed as well?To find out why some people are luckier than others, Professor Robert Wiseman of the University of Hetfordshire conducted a scientific study of lucky and unlucky people, “The Psychology of Luck”. The details of his groundbreaking research were published in his book, The Luck Factor. The book basically reveals four personality traits or principles that lucky people have that influence the fortuitous events in their lives. And for gamblers, many of those fortuitous events will happen in a casino. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that these principles are too general to overcome the odds against winning at your favorite casino game. Just take a moment and consider these principles carefully. Think about how you might be able to apply them to improve your luck as a gambler.
The Four Principles of a Living a Lucky Life
First Principle:
Maximize The Chance for Opportunities “Lucky people are skilled at creating, noticing and acting upon chance opportunities. They do this in various ways, including networking, adopting a relaxed attitude to life and by being open to new experiences.”Second Principle:
Trust Your Intuition “Lucky people make effective decisions by listening to their intuition and gut feelings. In addition, they take steps to actively boost their intuitive abilities by, for example, meditating and clearing their mind of other thoughts.””Third Principle:
The Power of Expectation “Lucky people are certain that the future is going to be full of good fortune. These expectations become self-fulfilling prophecies by helping lucky people persist in the face of failure, and shape their interactions with others in a positive way.”Fourth Principle:
Make Good Luck out of Misfortune “Lucky people employ various psychological techniques to cope with, and often even thrive upon, the ill fortune that comes their way. For example, they spontaneously imagine how things could have been worse, do not dwell on ill fortune, and take control of the situation.”It so happened that another man, Max Gunther, also published a book using the same title (Gunther: The Luck Factor) . It includes many of the same principles noted above as well as others. Some people believe that Gunther’s book is a better read than Wiseman’s but I’m not necessarily recommending either one. I only mention Gunther’s book because it adds at least one additional principle worth noting. He calls it ‘The Spider Web Structure’. That’s a fancy term for networking.
How can you apply the principles of lucky people to your casino gambling? Is it even possible to have control over your luck in a casino? Isn’t it strictly a matter of the odds? I assure you that these and other principles – some obviously practical and others rather mysterious – can be applied to make you a luckier person. You might be surprised at how the activities in a casino parallel those in life. There are principles to be learned that will help you be luckier on and off the casino floor.

OfflineEdessaknight,
The Cal in Vegas has a very strong Hawaiin trade.
Players would come up to the game and shake tea leaves (the plant) as the shooter rolled the dice and yell "Kahuana, Kahuna, Kahuna". (The player who did this the most was a high school principal).
They also put little frogs (sold in the gift shop) on their pass line bets and odds.......believing the frogs to be lucky.
The frogs the gift shop sold were smal;l but some of the Hawaiin ladies would bring ones from home with male appendages.
One night the dice were chiily, on a 7 out the pit boss said, "Pick up the line and get the frogs too", and on of the players said, My frog isn't working" and one of the dealers told him 'you should see the size of the frog the casino has up on the roof."
The OP is an interesting article, in the business though luck and superstition go hand in hand. In another casino we had a guy come up to the game, ask "How do you play this game?" and walked out with $44,000 dollars a couple of hours later. The pit boss said it was juat as if the guy was standing by the front door, an angel told him "go in and go to that crap table"..........
We had a pit boss who would kick a trash can across the pit whenever he saw a midget. Another boss asked him if he had some kind of phobia or something and he said, "No, I'm telling you it's just bad luck to see one in the casino."
Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any. So many systems, so many theories, so few jackpot winners.
There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

HOW TO DEVELOP YOUR INTUITION OUR ACTIVE MIND
If you've been experimenting with this system for developing your intuition, here's a synopsis of your experiences:
BODY MIND - Your body didn't want to settle down in the beginning. It told you to scratch this itch here or there, move this muscle or that, drink water or drain it, snack on something or do something else. Your body is used to being in command and it likes being the boss.
As you practiced, your body tended to quiet down and relax more quickly and willingly gave up the fight to be in control. The more you practiced the more your body relaxed and let go. This is normal so don't worry about it.
SUBCONSCIOUS MIND - As you started to quiet your mind down from the cares and woes of your life, your subconscious mind became active. You remembered to do this or that. You started thinking about your past, things you did or didn't do.
As you practiced telling your subconscious mind you didn't want to remember anything from your past just now and asked it to help you tune into your intuitive mind, your subconscious mind complied. Memories from your past faded away. You didn't know it, but as this happens your subconscious does go to work opening channels to your intuition. This is normal, so don't worry about it.
IMAGINATIVE MIND - As your subconscious mind stopped bringing up past memories, your imagination started running wild. You started thinking about all the possibilities of this or that. You took flights of fantasy and had a wonderfully exciting time.
As you practiced telling your imagination you didn't want to think about the possibilities just now and asked it to tune into your intuitive mind, your imaginative mind complied. Future possibilities faded from your mind, not to be forgotten, but to be put on hold. Your imagination went to work helping you imagine yourself communicating with your own intuition. This is normal, so don't worry about it.
RATIONAL MIND - As your imagination stopped bringing up future possibilities, your thinking mind took over. This is probably when you started thinking you'd never become intuitive. Don't snicker. That's what we do to ourselves all the time. Nobody can criticize us as well as we can. When we temporarily stop remembering who and what we are, and when we temporarily stop fantasizing about whom and what we can become, we think we can't do it.
As you practiced ignoring your rational mind, you became calmer and more centered. I have an image of my rational mind becoming a small sulking boy hiding in the corner of my mind when I reached this stage in my intuitive development. Others have different experiences but the end result is the same. We reach a point where our rational mind stops finding something wrong with us and it quiets down. This is normal, so don't worry about it.
WHAT'S NEXT: Practice is the next and most important step. It doesn't matter how long you practice in each session. What seems to matter most is regular practice. Two times a day is better than just once. Three times yields more results more quickly

CONSIDER:
How To Train yourself in the art of navigating the unpredictable?
follow these guidelines: 1. Your control over external circumstances will increase in direct proportion to your control over your inner demons. 2. Your ability to do what you want will thrive to the degree that you stop focusing on what you don't want. 3. Your skill at regulating and triumphing over chaos will be invincible if you're not engrossed in blaming others.
Some of your illusions seeped into you before you learned to talk. Others sneaked into you later, while you were busy figuring out how to become yourself. Eventually, you even made conscious choices to adopt certain illusions because they provided you with comfort and consolation.
There's no need to be ashamed of this. It's a natural part of being a human being.
Now here's the good news: You have the power to shed at least some of your illusions in ways that don't shatter your foundations.

I remember reading up on that study, and the only thing that struck me as potentially off was a the "trust your intuition" portion.
I think that more specifically, most people naturally start out listening to their intuition, and those who are favored by chance early on conclude, "My intuition can be trusted," while those who are not favored by chance early on conclude, "My intuition cannot be trusted."
The latter group then experiences a disconnect between themselves and their intuition, due to believing that their intuition cannot be trusted, which means that they don't naturally develop a deeper and more finely tuned relationship with their intuition over time.
Intuition is only reliable if you are deeply connected with it over time, if you can practice thorough introspection to greatly refine it.
Part of this means not being shaken by trial and error. It's sort of like not showing up to the gym for the very first time and expecting to immediately perform like a trained athlete. With intuition, it means not expecting your intuition to be a finely tuned radar when you're just starting out with it in a more willful, conscious manner.
The potential pitfall is that if someone is told, "You can totally trust your intuition" when they're not used to exercising it, it is the same as telling a severely out of shape person, "You can totally be competitive in a 5k marathon." It's potentially setting someone up to only increase the severity of the disconnect through a repeated experience of unrealistic expectations interpreted as an eventual failure.
Instead it is better to send equivalent message of, "You're really out of shape right now, but you can still practice running, and eventually you will be competitive in a marathon." With intuition it's just more along the lines of, "The more you practice introspection, mindfulness and otherwise experimenting with and flexing your intuition, the sharper it will become over time."
So in essence..
Early Life Positive Intuitive Experiences --> Continued Intuitive Flexing --> Increased Intuitive Prowess --> Cyclical Positive Reinforcement
Early Life Negative Intuitive Experiences --> Mistrust & Disconnect from Intuition --> Intuition Remains Undeveloped --> Cyclical Negative Reinforcement
TL;DR - If you're just starting out, don't accidentally self-sabotage by putting too much pressure on yourself by having high expectations of your intuition. Develop it gradually and realistically, just like you would your muscles at the gym.

Why are some people lucky? I have a theory.
Predestination. Fate. Timing.
Some people are predestine to a certain path. That path can change.
Some people's timing are in sync with the path of luck.
I'm reminded of the movie with Bruce Willis 'Unbreakable' where you have a person who is unbreakable, you also have someone who is also breakable. It is the Ying and Yang. Good vs. Evil. It's in every aspect of life.
Some people are lucky in one thing and unlucky in other things.
If you are one of those 'lucky person', if you share your luck you will gain more luck. So don't be afraid to share.
I believe in Occam's razor:
The Simplest Answer is Usually Correct.
-
Most of us who have the luxury of spending time online, talking on cell phones, driving good automobiles, living in homes warm in the winter and cool in the summer while we eat regularly are a lot luckier than we generally bother to imagine. The overwhelming majority of human beings in history counted themselves lucky just to have a full belly and a roof.
Probably a good argument can be made as to whether being 'lucky' at cards or gambling in general qualifies as luck at all. I've known a number of folks with more of that sort of luck than normal and I've never met one I'd want to trade places with.
Validation: All statements made above are accurate, precise, lucid and sometimes supported by factoids written down somewhere.
-
Ni how ma jackpotismine
Sie-sie, your luck theory has many good points, especially, sharing luck.
Upon closer examination, even the Yin Yang has a invisible yet third component
A Classic Greek math tip that was found to be critical in 350 BC as it is now.
Heslod, a venerable wise Greek philosopher/poet advised:
"Observe the measure, for right timing is in all things the most important factor!." In music we say 'catch the changes'
Also like the Bruce Will 'Unbreakable' analogy model, reminds me of an old English writing by Medieval 14th Century Chaucer' s Canterbury' s Knight's Tale wherein a poor farmer and young son come accidentally upon a knight's training camp deep in the forest. There they eye witness and feel enormous energy of the military chivalry and valor; the son deeply and instantly connects with the scene. Understanding their poor status making such ambition seemingly unreachable, boy turns to father and asks "Can I change my stars" i.e. so I can be a knight? The father loves the son but knows he cannot fulfil this dream, so he approaches one great knight and humbly asks if he would nobly take on the ambitious boy as an aspiring apprentice so he can reach new heights that his background would not ordinarily permit escape from his tradition..... an adventurous lesson filled story ensues...
Bottom Line: The Universe is constantly in changing; nothing is written in stone
Mind you, Infinity looks Black or White to Finite Eyes. Ancient wisdom says there are things known and there are things unknown, and in between are the doors of perception.
I do appreciate your kind consideration, in advance thank you for your contribution and interest in this thread.
