Hi - I know the odds are stacked tremendously against us and I know the games could be fixed so that our numbers never come in.  I have been playing Take Five, Mega Millions, Powerball, Cash 4 Life, & Pick Ten.  Does someone know anyone who won the jackpot in any of these games?  Last September, a guy who lives in my building won the scratch-off $10,000 a Week For Life jackpot.  Other than that, I don't know of anyone.

There must be a reason as to why winners do not want the publicity. They come out to collect their prize but disappear soon afterwards. Flashing their cash is not a wise thing for them to do.

The games are "fixed" in that the odds against winning a jackpot are enormous. Just as the lottery organizers plan.

     Thank You Michael44 for asking!

If this person . . have you noticed any repercussions?

This winner should have looked at the Lump Sum more seriously. He is 66 years old.

I know some people but the max was $100k.   A coworker won 10k from a scratcher while we were at lunch and an ex girlfriend’dad won 10k from a scratcher too.   Other than that only on TV and the show on HGTV or something like that about lottery winners buying homes.   I won $500 dollars like 3 times and I’m not a big gambler.  I buy like two fantasy 5 or Pick 3.   Do I think people win millions? Yes from local lottery.  Do I think the power ball and mega millions is a scam and nobody wins all those huge jackpots?  I think is all fixed at least with the huge mega millions jacpots

I don't know him other than passing him in the hallway every so often, so I can not say if he has faced any repercussions.  Do you know if he has?

If the jackpots for the big games are fixed, there is certainly reason to think some of the other games could be fixed, too. You don't live in NY, so I won't go into detail, other than to say the process for at least one of the NY games is far from transparent, with no way to even remotely verify if there was in fact a winner, even if if the lottery's website stated that there was.

It's an interesting question. I guess I don't know if I know any big winners, because as Music says they try to keep a low profile, to the extent their state allows.

Maybe your presence causes good luck for others.

Yes, people attempt to keep a low profile if they win, but if any of us knew of a friend or associate who won the big jackpot, we'd find out.  It seems that nobody knows anyone who's won.  I realize it's rare to win, so chances are we wouldn't know anyone, but without knowing any winners, we are all playing under the foolish assumption that we actually have even the remotest chance of winning. It is quite possible we have a 0% chance of winning the jackpot for any of the major games (or I would argue NY's Pick Ten).

I worked in a building that employed over 3000 people, many of them played lottery games, a few won jackpots under $100,000 and four people won over $1 million. I worked with three of them and the fourth was an acquaintance. Two of them split a $20 million jackpot, retired on Monday and never worked there again. One guy that won $2 million got 20 yearly $100,000 payments because there was no cash option. He worked another five years and the fourth won $5 million and just quit because he wasn't near retirement.

Played lots of golf with the guy that won the payments and talked to one of the $10 million winners just last week. But don't personally know any of the mega jackpot winners, but who does; not that many of them.

I lived in willamina Oregon when the local grocery store sold a winning Oregon Megabucks ticket for $5.4 million the corner store.  The winner took the annuity he was farely young like in his early forties.  I personally did not know the fellow and one of my best friends sister won $50,000 on a casino progressive for bingo she bought herself a new car after the taxes and she needed it too.-weshar75

Three of them won a classic 6/49 game and the guy getting the payments won a version of that. Read where a player won $300,000 playing an Online scratch-off game in KY.
