Looks like the CA lottery is trying a new tactic to make a little more money off people: withhold information. So far the missing items that I've noticed are
- no downloadable csv for Daily 3, Daily 4, Daily Derby, Fantasy 5, Superlotto Plus, Mega Millions, or Powerball results
- no results for drawings that occurred more than 200 draws ago for any draw game
- no list of prize levels for each scratcher and no overall odds (now you can only find out by purchasing a scratcher first and reading the back)
- no counts of prizes claimed for each prize level of each scratcher
- no location where the top prize winning tickets were sold
- no videos of past lottery commission meetings (transcripts of the past few meetings are available)
- no list of lottery executives and senior leadership (only list of commissioners)
None of it is an oversight, it's intentional. I never played scratchers before the website change, but with the new website omitting all the facts players need to make an informed decision, hell would have to freeze over before I bought a CA lottery scratcher.
The site now caters to the lowest common denominator, namely lottery addicts who play come hell or high water and couldn't care less about transparency. I also think they figured the people who buy the most lottery tickets don't speak English and weren't getting much out of the old website anyway. The app doesn't have any of the missing information either, and I don't believe the lottery rep on FB who assures all the commenters that the missing features will be added later.
All in all, what a joke considering how much the former lottery director and PR people yammered about "transparency and integrity." LOL. If they want transparency and integrity, they should emulate TX's lottery website. Everything is there, even test draw data. TX doesn't mess around.
