I have been postponing updates since this originally happened. This morning when I started Excel, the dreaded update showed again. I immediately shut down the program again, extended the update ban for another 7 Days and used the Quick Repair in Settings-Apps-Microsoft Office and am up and running again.
I purchased my current program several years ago. I think it is the 2013 version. My question is “Why after about 5-6 years without a single program update message is this all of a sudden happening?”. Is Microsoft trying to get me to pay something? Other than some memory issues (My files get huge), I have never had an issue. I wonder about updates and their potential sinister intent. I get that there are threats that are out to get us all and have always assumed updates of any kind are intended to protect us. At least that is what they would have us all believe. You have to wonder what is really going on though.
I am considering getting another computer to do Internet only stuff and disconnecting my current computer from the Internet. When I want to post something I would have to send it to an external hard drive, turn of the computer, plug the drive into the connected computer and then send it. Perhaps a USB Hub would alow the separation and file transfer so that I do not have to do the shutdown re-plug routine.
I don't think that Microsoft can be trusted. Who knows what data is collected when an update takes place.
MICROSOFT, LEAVE ME ALONE. I AM DOING JUST FINE, THANK YOU. BILL, YOU AND YOUR WIFE JUST FOCUS ON KILLING FOLKS IN AFRICA FOR YOUR POPULATION CONTROL AGENDA. SORRY FOR THAT, BUT I AM REALLY PEEVED ABOUT THIS!
