I suspect people would like to respond but are not sure what you're asking. The standard deviation is a statiscal measure of the spread or dispersion of a data set. First we must be clear whether you seek the STD of the entire population of date you're concerned about, or the std of a sample set. In either case the standard devationncan be thought of as the overage distance of an item in the data set from then mean (average). Again I'm not sure what you're asking, but yiu can calculate the standard deviation of a set of numbers this way (follow the STEPS):
1. Find the mean...add each number, then divide by the number of items.

2. Subtract the mean from each number. You will get an eqjual number of negative and positive value values
3. Square each result in step (2).
4. Add the squares from (Step 3).
5. Now for a sample, DIVIDE the sum of squares obtained in step (4) by the number of items minus 1. KIf the number of items is 10, divide by 9, and so son. You now have what we call the Variance.
6. The standard deviation is simply the square root of the variance, so find he square root of the result in Step 5.
I hope this helps. It could be easily automated i Excel.

I created an excel file, but you can also easily do it.
Start a new Excel spreadsheet.
1. In Cell A1 put in a header, such as "Nimbers" or anything you choose to call it.
2. Put your 15 numbers in Column A from a2 to a16.

3. In the B column, type in B1 this, without the quotes: "=STDEV.S(a2:a16)"

Note that standard deviation is the square root of the variance.

So the formula below is incomplete.
