A Woman played a Longshot Horse at a Horse Race, and he WON, he was worth about $900, :D, but, she was so excited, she showed her Winning Ticket to her Facebook Friends BEFORE cashing in the ticket, and one of her "Friends," used a Home Scanner, scanned her ticket, and cashed it in for themselves and collected her $900. When she went to cash it in, she was told it had already been cashed in and collected.. She realized she only showed her Facebook Friends the ticket, so one of her "Friends," stole her $900 she won. She lividly cussed out whoever stole from her and IIRC, Police were looking to track down the Thief. She said something like,"I shouldn't have shown the Winning Ticket to my Facebook "Friends," BEFORE cashing it in. am going to cut out a LOT of my Facebook "Friends," and keep in mind that Facebook"Friends" aren't Real Friends. I could see someone winning on a Lottery Ticket and showing it on Social Media such as Facebook BEFORE cashing it in. How possible would it be to scan a Winning Lottery ticket seen on a Social Media Website/App like Facebook online using a Home Scanner and be able to collect the Winnings? :/

"What's your ADDRESS?" May be the CREEPIEST question EVER asked to a Lottery Winner! O.O WTF?

At first, I found the one digit away draws kind of amusing, but now I am PISSED! 15 or 16 times I was off by just one digit in recent times!🤬 No longer find this amusing, it's making me REALLY angry now!🤬

Heard about cases like that before. People has been warned against showing their tickets online.

Next time you get a winning ticket, scan it, copy it and then check bar code on the copy at a lottery scanner. Never tried cashing a copy of a lottery ticket before, but if this story is the truth, it's obviously possible.

"Facebook"Friends" aren't Real Friends"

Before Zuckerberg even finished junior high I had one email pal that I considered a good friend even though we never met IRL. There are lots of people that I exchanged many emails with but never met IRL and didn't consider to be real friends. When you have 100 or more friends on facebook it usually means you accepted a request from somebody who shares some interests with you, and maybe you've had some casual correspondence. If you're not sure they'd drop what they're doing and drive for hours to help you then you probably shouldn't consider them much more than an acquaintance.

Barcodes are just a bunch of lines of different widths, and everything is based on the relative widths of the lines. As long as you can capture an image that doesn't distort some of the widths you can print a barcode that should scan just the way the original would. If you've ever printed a coupon and used it at the grocery store you've already done the equivalent of forging a winning lottery ticket or valuable document. If there's a way to collect the prize without handing the original to a live human then you can collect the prize with a copy of the barcode.

"Next time you get a winning ticket ... "

Make one bigger, make one smaller, and make one that's skewed 45º. They should all scan as if they were actual tickets.

Not only are the Barcodes a way of stealing the lottery prize money online , but also the serial numbers printed at the bottom are the equivalent...I know because, I once had a ticket that was sooo worn (because of heat, or had been in my pocket so long) til you couldn't make out the actual Lottery numbers on it, but the serial numbers at the bottom of the ticket were readable... clerk punched them into the terminal...voila....I recieved my prize money...

Online means JUST THAT... ANY WEBSITE..!, not just FB, Twitter, Instagram..etc... but good legal practices would mean NOT showing any winning Lottery ticket Online, BEFORE cashing it in... or hide the Barcodes and serial numbers...

There are solutions, like shutting down facebook. On the other side you shouldn't post 5/5's on lotterypost. Your jackpot would be half if some played it. If you typed code, possibly all of yours described or scanned from your computer, can be copied too? I heard stories. Some tell you to code offline. And this or that detail isn't told either. Details like elephants walking through narrow shops on cracking wooden planks. ...

Isn't there a protection? Is the story real?

Hmm. Even if you DID foolishly show your Winning Lottery Ticket Online and some THIEF scanned it using a Home Scanner and cashed it in and collected on it, wouldn't you still have a good case on winning your money since you most likely wouldn't look like the Thief? I mean, in Lottery, you have to cash in your ticket in PERSON, and you, the actual Winner could claim your ticket was reproduced/Scanned and collected on without your permission. I mean, LOTS of People have had their Lottery Tickets stolen and they got their money when Lottery Officials checked Point of Sales at Gas Stations, Vending Machines, Convenience Stores, etc, and they realized the THIEF doesn't look like the Person who bought the Ticket (The actual Winner)

I scan books for a living too. anything can happen.

Why would anyone go on facebook and do that? That is her fault. you can't fix stupid, honestly.

I agree with the first sentence. Facebook friends aren't real friends. Zuckerburg is just a face, that's it. He is an elite person, that explains about facebook.

I remember on another Website why she didn't cash it in first and then take a picture of the CASH if she is wanted to show it off. When places were closed up due to this "pandemic", I would scan books with an app that I have and be able to find out if profitable items or not. The same with games, puzzles, etc. Now on amazon, you can't list certain things if it is a liable , copyright, etc. I wasn't thrilled because the way amazon is, but on ebay lets see if people can find it. I would have a book or audio book shipped to me and try to sell for it's value. Strange, I couldn't wait till the thrift stores open up, I even go to libraries to see what is profit , regardless condition.

Anyone can scan anything look at the devices, mobile, etc. you don't ever post a ticket no matter what. someone claimed it good for them.
