I'm curious....with the extra day could the jackpot potently rollover longer or just shorten the time between a winner? Could the jackpot approach $2Billion? Or more? If its shorter they might have to tweak to keep the sales up. Thoughts?

No...it will only increase Player's losses! and I don't know about how most players feel, but I think it's intellectually insulting...they've already reneged on their $40 Million starting Jackpots, but never reduced the cost BACK to $1. per ticket.. now with this extra draw day,..they're saying. .."oh.!, never mind that, nobody's paying attention.. let's just find another orafice to insert & screw'em even more"..!!

This Industry is screaming for Government Regulations...!! Corruption & Unbridled Greed..!!

I am not a fan of more draws because the jackpots will grow slower and maybe more winners at lower jackpots is in store for powerball. I think that I will play mega millions until they kill their game and go to more draws too. I have always had better luck with powerball but I want big pots not lower slower pots and less money to win too. Powerball you are stupid and your losing players soon too.-weshar75

In terms of weeks the same number of drawing in three weeks will now be made in two. Drawing the same game three times a week will obviously increase the jackpot from Friday to Friday.

At two bucks a ticket and over 290 million possible outcomes, lots of players agree with you. Been months since the last time I looked at the sales volume but considering that many tickets must be sold just to get a 50% chance of a jackpot winner, players will wait until they believe a jackpot winning ticket will be sold.

The odds will still be about 1 in 292 million, so we can expect one winning ticket for every 292 million that are sold. The chance that a jackpot will reach any particular size will continue to be the same as it has been because the odds aren't changing.

With the 3rd drawing the weekly cost of playing will increase by 50%. That means that some people will stop playing or wait for a larger jackpot, and some will skip the power play option and continue spending the same $6 per week as they do now. I suspect that the shorter period for buying tickets will also reduce sales a bit, especially for the occasional players. It's a virtual certainty that the sales per drawing will decrease, but it's a pretty safe bet that weekly sales will be higher, and that's what MUSL is counting on. That increase in weekly sales means the states will make more money and the jackpot will grow a bit faster. How much faster depends on how much the weekly sales increase.

If the past is prologue, then players will definitely wait until they think a jackpot winner has a good chance of being sold.

Selling fifty percent coverage of all 292 million combos means that a drawing has only a 50/50 shot at a player winning the jackpot. In many drawings it took more than 50% combo coverage before somebody won the jackpot. I doubt the extra weekly drawing will produce record breaking jackpots sooner. One thing is for sure though, and that's it'll drive higher annual revenues for MUSL. G5

Not hardly, for I rarely play it..Posting about it, doesn't necessarily mean I'm spendin money on it!

I'm merely Rattin on'em, as I'll do on ANY corrupt Lottery..No HONEST drawing needs 1 hr cutoff before the actual drawing, unless they're hiding somethin, or manipulating it..!!

If Powerball expands to Australia and Britain and and goes to three drawings a week of course the jackpots will increase.

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any. So many systems, so many theories, so few jackpot winners.

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

Also,.. take note of which day of the wk the Jackpots will be won after they go to a 3 drawings per wk..if not enough tickets are sold on Mondays as opposed to Weds & Sats, ..to encourage people to play on Mondays,.. the Jackpots wil most likely be released on Mondays...just keep watch...

Idaho's Idaho Cash just went to a daily draw, and the last increase was ... wait for it ... ZERO. I don't know if Powerball is similar, but I hope not.

The last increase for Idaho Cash was $1,000. This is right in line with the increases being approx. $1,000 per day before the changeover to daily drawings.
