* Ever since we had a lottery winner from my city years back & reading about the harassment him & his wife went through from folks knowing who they were l stopped buying tickets in my city. All my purchases are from neighboring cities like Hayward, going North & Milpitas going South. If my name is printed as a lottery winner, my response when asked would be " Not me, must be another ..... l live in ..

Also if a store is named after a body of water or on a street named after something to do with water, I think that's luckier. Maybe I should start combining all these good superstitious ideas. Start buying my tickets at a store with an odd number address on a watery name street with an odd number of letters. There seems to be a million places named Somethingbrook.

This one made me laugh because I know you're not the only one who does that. Might work if you have a common name.

* CJ, this Philippo couple won l think $52mil back in 2012 or thereabouts within 30 days the Cal Lottery swooped down on the store to look at footage to identify the winners & plastered their pic on TV. In this State, you have a year to claim a MM or PB win, but lottery felt it was their " right" to expose the winners. They received backlash from players & stopped that practice in it's tracks. Thing is, with their identity now known, people were dropping off fruit & flower baskets asking for money, the post office was dumping bags of mail off at their front door. In the end the family left the city for good. If and when l win, l will let you know if my ruse worked..

That is pretty bad what they did. Hopefully other lotteries won't follow suit.

One thing I'd debated doing was if I did win, set up a phony address in another city and claim it from there. That way, if anyone wants to look for me, they would be looking for me in the wrong place. Whether or not I'll do that if I actually win, who knows, but it might be worth thinking about.

SACRAMENTO — The winner of a $52 million MEGA Millions jackpot ticket purchased in Fremont more than a month ago finally claimed his prize Friday, and he told reporters that without nudging from his relatives, he may never have found out about his good fortune.

Bladimir Agnite, of Fremont, purchased the winning ticket at Kwik Stop at 3157 Walnut Ave. on July 27 but never claimed the prize despite having the winning ticket scanned more than one time. He was introduced at a news conference in Sacramento on Friday his with wife, Marita, a day after California Lottery officials released a snapshot image of a surveillance video taken from the Kwik Stop that night. They were looking for the mystery winner who never stepped up to claim the stunning jackpot.

“I scanned it multiple times,” Agnite said at the news conference, but all the message on the electronic ticket reader said was, “See the clerk.”

“We didn’t see the amount,” he said. “Just, ‘See the clerk.’ We didn’t know.”

California Lottery spokeswoman Donna Cordova said lottery winners can have their winning tickets scanned at stores that sell tickets but that to claim a prize, they must contact lottery officials. When nobody claimed the winning ticket from the Kwik Stop, lottery officials asked for the public’s help and released the security camera footage.

When Agnite’s in-laws saw the photo and recognized him, they urged him to check the California Lottery website to see the image for himself. When he saw the image, he immediately told his wife they were a wanted couple.

“My stomach started … I started crying,” Marita Agnite said. “He hugged me and we just cried and cried.”

The Agnites said they will use the winnings to buy a home and to help with expenses — and the reward couldn’t have come at a better time: Bladimir was laid off recently from his job at a printing company, officials said.

“We’ve been living with friends,” Bladimir Agnite said. “Now we’re renting an apartment.”

I've also heard people say building colors can be lucky or unlucky. Or if you buy them at a gas station, the colors of the logo. Supposedly black is unlucky, but green and white are lucky, especially green . Maybe look for a bright green paint job.

My superstition is "which day to buy my tickets" so now I only purchase tickets on days ending in "y".
