Yeah, there's a lot of those lying, thieving, no good, lowdown, scroundrelizing, incorrigible, dastardly, good-fer-nothing, cheating scalawags running loose these days.

To the Posters implying that I was standing up for Josephine, I wasn't. My thoughts were,"Wow! What a stupid woman! When I saw the video. "She didn't even think to acknowledge the "Winning check at your job was a set up and just spoke without actually getting the winning check ! " On here I was actually implying that she was an idiot, a thief, and a liar. I was roasting and insulting her, not standing up for her.

What if she had already received the money? I am not following the obsession with her "acknowledging the setup" and speaking before she got the check. You seem to be suggesting she should have waited for the money ....which was never coming to her...and fled. "Common sense to wait for the money before speaking." No. It was irrelevant.

What difference would it have made? She had already committed the criminal act. Her statements were not needed at this point to prove the theft since she had already tried to claim the money.

On another forum you said you worked at a drug store chain. Are you currently in a line of work where you sell or validate lottery tickets, and is that why these kinds of stories interest you? If I were you I would not let my employer or coworkers know I had an avid interest in lottery fraud stories. They might start to wonder...

I'm going to try to clarify myself again. She should have known it was a sting when she was getting interrogated. Generally speaking when you're being interrogated, it's a sting.

How about that; a story from 2013 about Chris Hanson trying to increase ratings by looking for unscrupulous store clerks. The topic, "wait for the check before speaking" sure looks like a warning to all wanna-be lottery ticket thieves on LP. I'm assuming that because the story says nothing about how to check the tickets before handing them to a clerk or to ask for the ticket back if they are told their "winning" ticket is a loser.

Most and probably all honest and hard working people do not assume a sting if one is being interrogated. I would never assume a sting since I am not a criminal. Criminals have different frames of reference.

I hope Todd can edit my thread title for me. The thread title really should have been something like,"What idiotic Lottery Clerk doesn't recognize a sting interrogation?"

The story was about clerks working in stores selling multiple products and in one of those stores the owner told the person their ticket was a $1000 winner. Have no idea if there are stores where one clerk's sole job is to sell lottery tickets. The clerks didn't have to answer law enforcement questions let alone someone from TV trying to get better ratings.

None of the clerks acted as if selling lottery tickets was their only job so they weren't "lottery clerks". Hanson showed the store clerks the videos after they agreed to be interviewed. Trying to catch a store clerk hoping a player didn't know the value of their ticket, not asking for the ticket back, and then the clerk collecting the winnings was the sting.

You could change the thread title to "Would any store clerk after keeping someone's ticket to cash agree to an interview about it on National TV?". Or what the story really is "Three store clerks were caught cheating lottery players in 2013".

I was just thinking about the People who failed the Undercover Lottery Investigation allowing themselves to be filmed whereas some failed ones didn't show up on Camera. They were probably told that a camera crew was coming and probably assumed it was going to be something like,"This Gas Station is getting a "Best Gas Station in town!" Award! Which is why they agreed to be filmed. By the time they realize they are in trouble, it's too late as they already agreed to be filmed The guy who greeted Hansen happily at first appeared to think Hansen was going to give his store a good award or something. His happiness gradually turns to troubled as he gradually realizes he's in big trouble, not about to get an award.

Were you in a time warp for two weeks? This thread reached its conclusion a while ago and you already said what you said about being filmed. Two lessons:

1) Don't steal from people. 2) Don't allow yourself to be recorded by strangers or for unclear purposes.
