So, Megamillions is $1.1 Billions and no one really seems to care. When Powerball was roughly $1.1 billion late last year, there was a huge frenzy. There were hoards of crowds at multiple Lottery Retailers and People were very excited. Megamillions is $1.1 Billion and the frenzy this time is basically non existent. It's kind of as if the infamous Powerball delay put a damper on what should have been a huge frenzy for Megamillions this time. It kind of seems like the Megamillions is just a normal 20 Million Jackpot and not a $1.1 Billion jackpot.

Yesterday I bought tickets at a store I usually buy from and the clerk told me the frenzy hadn't started yet but probably would the next day.

If the frenzy isn't as big, less chance of the winner having to share.

I may go down to the store near work to see if there's a line. I found a site that can convert dream images to lottery numbers and got some numbers from a dream I recently had.

Trying to decide if I should play them since I already have 4 for the big draw.

After the last fiasco with the 2 B Power Ball I don't think many are even playing the lotto anymore, or at least not as much.

I wouldn't cause a delay of a few hours a fiasco.

The jackpot went up $150 million and half new ticket sales go to increasing the jackpot.

So $300 million tickets sales or 150 million tickets.

Plenty of people are still playing.

This jackpot represents approximately $2 billion cumulative ticket sales or 500 million tickets.

1/3rd of which were the last drawing.

So I'd say that lotto fever is alive and well.

Maybe you don't notice it at your store.

And perhaps you're comparing it to the mania ahead of the $2 billion Powerball drawing.

If mega millions hits $1.9 billion I can almost guarantee a similar amount of hysterical buying.

I'd like to see it roll to $2.5 or even $3 billion.

So if people aren't buying as fast, the probability of that goes up.

Sadly sales are brisk.

In order to actually become an instant billionaire it needs to roll to $4 billion.

That's just over a $1 billion post tax cash option. And then you need to be the only winner.

Very unlikely we ever see that. Not unless they changed the rules to decrease the odds.

Apparently mega millions site crashes for 2 hours in recent days.

Sounds like lotto fever to me.

I would be surprised if they don't sell at least 200 million tickets by the Tuesday drawing.

That means a $200+ million increase in the jackpot.

I know I won't win.

But it's fun to buy 1 ticket ever drawing for a few weeks and dream of what I'd do with the money.

It is not really 1.1 Billion. Look at the cash values and you will realize another $200,000,000 Cash value needs to be tacked on before this is a legitimate Billion dollar pot.

I remember a guy saying he only plays the Megamillions and the Powerball when the Jackpot is low like 20 Million. He said that that's when most people ignore the Megamillions and he said when the frenzy is on too many People playing the big MM and PB Jackpot means a bigger chance of split ties and he wasn't wanting to split his Jackpot with anyone else. He said he'd rather be the sole winner of a 20 Million Jackpot from MM or PB than have to split a big Jackpot with multiple People. I find that logic faulty. If you split a big Jackpot with multiple People, you'll get far more than just 20 Million Jackpot to yourself.

There was an email circulating sometime ago saying that your chances of winning were better if you play when it's low because there wasn't as much competition. That of course isn't true, but it does reduce your chance of having to share.

I think that logic is flawed since the higher the jackpot, the more there is to go around. I do agree with the idea of not playing calendar dates and other common sets of numbers because there will be serious sharing of the jackpot if one of those combos hits, like the recent incident in the Philippines or the time several years ago when some of the Lost numbers hit.

I usually play quick picks from the lottery terminal, Lottery Post, or random.org, or I pick a set of my own numbers either through visualization or some other method.

Thoze astronomical Oddz are alwayz the same, no matter which drawing...especially when you opt for QPs..

But, I guess to such a hoarding person, $20 Million iz a lot moe money than spliting $1.1 Billion..even if split 3 wayz..!!

I know. I can't believe he'd rather only have 20 Million to himself rather than having say 300 Million due to splitting it with two other people. The only way his logic would make sense is if he was thinking of the fame he'd get as a sole winner rather than as just one third of the winners. He probably was thinking more fame wise than financial wise.

Not everyone is greedy and $20 million is fine with me. The odds are the same with each drawing. It has nothing to do with logic. Let this anonymous guy have his own preferences.
