This ranks up there with the 29 people who split about $65k a while back when there were 5 consecutive number drawn

I can see that only 2 bought more than one ticket. They have 30 different locations listed but the results say 32 .

Well it is RNG "drawn" and if you look at the June 4th numbers I can see why people would do the 4 apart thing.

More proof of why players shouldn't play numbers with an obvious pattern. If it's an obvious pattern, others will probably play it as well and if they hit, winners have to share. The same could be said about playing calendar dates or sets of numbers that are seen elsewhere. I've read stories about numbers being matched in multiple places because players used the numbers from fortune cookies which are shipped to restaurants all over the country. I also remember a story involving people in multiple places using getting wins from the numbers that appeared in TV series lost. Neither of these were jackpot scenarios, but if they were, the jackpot would have been divided amongst so many it would seem like it wasn't a jackpot at all.

I think the best way to keep from sharing your winnings is to either play quick picks from either the lottery terminal or another source of quick picks such as the LotteryPost quick pick generator or Random.org. I've also been converting random sentences to numbers using numerology and hope that might win for me and not have to share.

I play the same 5 numbers & have for a few years. I've hit 4/5 five times. Hit 3/5 Friday night & again on Saturday, also got 1 or 2 free replays this week. 4/5 pretty much pays for an entire year of plays.

I believe this was definitely a pattern win . I tried to find an example of the CA Fantasy 5 play card online, but could only find a "Gimme Five" play card picture which has 4 numbers to a row, so that the numbers 7, 11, 15, 19, 23 are lined up in a column. Many players play this way. There were also more 4/5 winners for that drawing because players playing that way probably started with the "3" and played all the 5 number combos down in that column resulting in a couple of 4/5s for 3, 7, 11, 15, 19 and 11, 15, 19, 23, 27 also beside their "jackpot" win.

The best example of the fortune cookie "multiple wins" was the Powerball drawing on March 30, 2005 which was before more numbers had been added and the 5/5 prize was only $100,000. There was one jackpot winner that night for $13.8 million, but 110 people had all 5 of the white balls. 89 won a $100,000 and 21 of them played the power play which at that time allowed the multiplier of 5 to be used, so they won $500,000. PB people were wondering what had happened until one of the winners told how he got the numbers from a fortune cookie.

Here in Florida QP's won't spare you from sharing a jackpot. Florida Fantasy5 is routinely split among multiple winners holding QP tickets. G5

I've heard of people playing patterns on the playslips too. I remember when the Louisiana Lottery first started offering draw games, someone told me they filled out a playslip with a smiley face. I'm sure people use other patterns like a five on a die or an X or something like that. Probably not a good idea either if a player doesn't want to share.

That fortune cookie story is the one I was trying to remember. If all of those people had hit the jackpot in addition to the player who hit, of the $13.8 million, each player would have only gotten $124,324,32 before taxes. Not a bad win, but not enough to set someone for life like the $13.8million would.

Another tip I've read to avoid sharing is to pick only numbers above 31, since most people don't pick high numbers and that prevents playing dates which are commonly played by many.

Not tip eliminates the winner's chance of having to share completely, but there some things that can be done to help.

Interesting. Perhaps using another method to pick numbers, like the LP QP generator or random.org might help.
