Seems the lottery is going to Quick Picks only.

We tried to get some self pick lottery tickets today and everyone in line was told they are only accepting quick pick plays.

Any self pick play slips were not being accepted.

The store clerk had to punch in all our play slips by hand.

I've seeing this kind of event happening more and more.

Anyone else have issues with play slips or the store refusing to take them?

Was the machine unable to read a self pick? It appears they still let you pick numbers.

Not exactly a way to make the line move quicker.

This is the 3rd time in as many weeks and in different places we've had this happen.

In one instance, we were told to find a lottery dispensary machine and punch in our numbers by hand.

Yes, with our new vending lottery machines.

I punch in my numbers, but, I haven't figured out how to get 5 plays on the same ticket!

I Shudder to think that Lotteries would go to Quick Pick only.

Why Lottery Post itself might cease to exist. There could still be some addicts that would need a place to post numbers for the sake of a Contest between members.

Many "life works would become meaningless. From a profit perspective that is.

Hmmm wasn't there an issue with one state delaying a drawing a while back? Wasn't that Minnesota that caused the delayed drawing? Not sure if it was MN but that may explain it...

I have kinda heard/seen this. What I have seen is when the jackpot gets this big and people who never play try to fill out a card they never do it right. So if you have a long line and every customer messes up their cards it really slows the line down.

Have you tried calling or emailing the state lottery itself and asking them? That would be the best way to find out exactly whats going on.

Before you play there are 2 choices to make. Low sum or high sum and consecutive pair or no consecutive pair. Choose correctly and you go from 120 combos down to 30. Not a bad starting point.

They grab a preprinted ticket from a stack next to the register, and give it to you after you pay. The tickets aren't even bring printed live.

never used play slips, so I've never had that problem

rest assured thars some bizarre reason for such problems

That's surprising. They better sell them all before the draw because someone has to pay for those tix after they're printed.

One other point I'd like to make....

Each state has it's own data processing network/system for their lottery's. Is the problem you've seen unique to Minnesota? Do you know if it's happening in other states too? The situation described in an above post about a store in Louisiana could be a time saving policy adopted locally by the retailer.

Although most states networks are connected to both PowerBall and MegaMillions, each state has it's own network of computers and terminals. I'm in Florida and haven't seen or heard of the problem. G5
