After the Powerball drawing I always like to check the 5 winning numbers against the entire database history which now has 3407 drawings to see what the history of those numbers has been. I can't say that it has not happened somewhere in the past that a winning number combo has had at least one drawing previously that had 4 of the 5 numbers to have hit, but I have yet to see it. The stats for Saturday nights numbers were: 160 times 2 of the 5 numbers had previously hit which would have only made a winning ticket if a person had the PB on that line. 3 out of 5 had happened only in 4 drawings out of 3407, and there had never been a 4 out of 5. Of course with millions of tickets being printed, there would have been many tickets with the 2 of 5 and 3 of 5 for actual winners, but no previous 4 of 5 winner.
As an interesting sidelight, I decided to check all of the 12 number picks that everyone selected for Saturday nights 11-04 draw against the database of 3407 draws using the full wheel for 12 numbers which is 924 combinations. There were two members whose selections had previously contained the numbers for 2 - 5/5 wins for each of them. Af320 picked: 01 02 04 19 24 31 45 46 48 49 53 58 and five of these numbers hit 04-08-15: 01 19 45 46 58 + 29pb and as recently as 06-05-23: 02 31 45 46 49 + 20. Magma was the other one to have 5 of the 12 picks to hit 2 times: 16 22 23 24 32 36 42 44 47 54 57 67: 04-11-12: 16 23 42 44 47 + 02 and 09-27-20: 24 32 42 44 47 +15.
Although it doesn't seem to be doing me any good, when I select my 12 numbers to enter, I put them in the full wheel and check against the database and try not to have any 4/5 combinations show up from past drawings since the winning jackpot combos never have had a 4/5 appear before. Though, this doesn't seem to be a problem for a couple of the players who use the same numbers each drawing and continue to add points to their yearly total in the contest with lots of 4/5 combos having hit previously in drawings from their 12 numbers not slowing them down from continuing to hit 2, 3, and 4 numbers here!
