  I could see a couple of people on this forum bragging to lottery officials how they discovered the secret pattern to winning and how most lottery winner stories are fake news and being arrogant and nasty in responses to simple due diligence questions.  "Where did you purchase your ticket?"  "None of your business."  These walking red flags are going to be waiting for a while to actually receive their money should they win a major jp. 

  I never thought we needed a topic on how to conduct yourself with lottery officials if you win a major jp but I was wrong. Maybe an idea for a future Kate video? Writing nonsense on the back of a ticket boggles my mind.

  i've been here less than a year and i already know a couple dozen forum denizens who should never be given a large sum money.

  I agree. The lawsuits over lost money from investing and running businesses for which they have no expertise would be constant fodder for the tabloids. The money would ruin their lives.

  For me it depends on the amount you're comfortable claiming under your own name. I got sneak peak on the Winners & Retailer Information for the last $1.580 billion mega-millions winner from Atlantic Beach. Don't ask me how. That prize was claimed by an individual in Atlantic Beach, FL. The named is register to an ER Physician with the zip code. The rich keep getting richer as they say. But he claimed that monstrous prize in his own name. 

  If I wanted to claim as a Trust to maintain anonymous I wouldn't sign the ticket but rather make a copy (front+back). But to your point G5 I can see it both ways. Reason to sign the back immediately and not signing the ticket right away. Pros and Cons to each. But it largely depends on the amount I win. Many people in this world will not be fortune enough to have this debacle.

  For me it would depend upon how much I won too. 

  I've seen The Jackpot Winner's and Retailers Report and was shocked to see the winners name listed for the 1.58 million MM ticket sold in Atlantic Beach as they must have waived claiming pursuant to FS 24.051.  I'm very surprised that their name hasn't been in the news.  (If it has, I haven't seen it)

  There are a few other large jackpots (PB, MM, and Florida Lotto) that were won in August of 2023 that the winner did not waive FS 24.1051.  Come next November, after 90 days has elapsed, it'll be interesting to see if The Florida Lottery updates the winners report with the actual winners names, or makes a public announcement releasing the names of the winners.  My guess is they might not do it simply because it's old news.  Rather they could decide to release the winners names provided someone asks.  G5

  "Debacle"??  There's a part of me that thinks that wasn't a typo where you could've typed "debate"...  Or maybe it was just auto-correct giving you a helping hand.

  This one reason I only play the small payout lotterys in my state. I don't wish ti be a multimillonair.
