No, I'm not a lottery official. I don't claim that playing the lottery is a good investment (it's not). It's only for fun, and you should be aware that the state depends on you for revenue. Most states have lotteries because it's easier to get money from people voluntarily than by force through raising other taxes.
All I'm saying is that in a game:
1) run by salaried government employees who don't receive a share of the profits
2) run for the sole purpose of shoveling 100% of profits in the billions to the state legislatures (which is why the lottery has proliferated across 45 states with a large number of games and 223,000 outlets to play them)
3) with a massive profit margin built into the pay tables ("massive" compared to casino games)
... explain to me, why on Earth would the lottery rig their own games to make people lose even more money than they would lose in a fair game? It makes no sense. Only a conspiracy theorist would believe such a silly thing.
Do you volunteer to do lots of extra work at your job for no additional pay to do something to screw over your own customers? Why not? That's exactly what you people are accusing the lottery of doing. They query the computer to see what numbers people have picked and then they pick winning numbers to not match those. That requires A LOT more work than just picking numbers at random. Extra work for no extra pay, for no reason other than to ruin the game. Why???
Of all the stupid things to say, this thread started with utter and complete nonsense:
1 Building runs All Lottery games that we play no matter the state your in.Its department inside that building that controls each state so when they're checking system for that 15 minute period after the draw closes and until the numbers are displayed.
There is zero evidence to support this absurd claim. There is zero incentive for anyone to do such a thing. This is a conspiracy theory that is absolutely ridiculous.
But if you people want to believe it, that's fine, you can. In that case, stop playing the lottery. If this is true, that the lottery actually takes far more of your money than what the pay table is designed to take, why would you ever play this game? Don't give them your money. Don't ever buy a ticket ever again.
