Hey Stat$... nice to see you posting in this thread.
I took exception to Tucker Black's speculation about me wasting gas because he couldn't possibly know my daily routine, coupled with the fact that those other two county's are in very close proximity to my house. Because he's in Colorado and I'm in Florida he's forced into the realm of speculation. And even if he as he said was just trying to be helpful, his interpersonal skills or his brand of delivery of helpfulness needs a bit of work IMHO. He might be cognitive dissonant, but I better not go there because then I'd be speculating and I don't want to do that.
Is it possible that I'm wasting gas? Sure it is! But not very much. IMHO, If I'm wasting a tenth of a gallon of gas, that'd be a lot. Everyday I drive in and around in at least two of those county's doing the things that I either have or want to do. I wonder if he even bothered to think something like that might be the case? I doubt it, because if he had, he probably wouldn't have fired off a one line statement that was as stupid as it was. At the very least he should have considered how his single line of helpfulness would fall on my ears, but I've seen him do the same thing as he did to me to other LP members so his self awareness or how he comes off to other posters is pretty thin.
How much does a tenth of a gallon of gas cost these days anyway? Let's see... gas where I live is $2.75 per gallon, therefore I'd be wasting 27.5 cents per trip. Aint that somethin'? I think I can afford to waste roughly a quarter a day, but maybe not. Who knows???? But Tucker seems to know!
Actually, given all three county's are located very close to my house, and I gotta go over there anyway, it's kinda hard for me to see how I could possibly be wasting gas....
Oh well. To each his own I always say. G5
Hey Stat$, how's this with regard to me wasting gas?
Yesterday afternoon my wife asked me to go to a butcher shop to order a prime rib for Christmas dinner. Now it so happens that the butcher shop is only 4.6 miles from my house, BUT it's located in different county and I wanted to get a ticket for tonight's drawing anyway because the jackpot is big.
I hopped in my car, set the odometer, and off I went to the butcher shop. Seven tenths of a mile from my house is a 7-Eleven that I had to go past. I stopped in there, bought two lines of PB with The PowerPlay. Cost me 6 bucks.
Back in the car to the butcher shop. I pull into the parking lot of the shop and noticed that there's a Sunoco station not 25 to 30 yards away from where I parked. So I walked over to the gas station and bought one line of PB with The PowerPlay. Cost me 3 bucks.
While I was in the shop there was a line at the meat counter so I had to wait about 5 minutes to order a $30 per pound boneless prime rib. Yeah 30 bucks a pound is a lot, but it's Christmas and my son, daughter in law, and two year old grandson are flying to Florida for Christmas so I didn't mind. And I can afford 30 bucks a pound anyway...
When I came out of the butcher shop, I looked down the road and lo and behold I saw a liquor store! Guess what? It's located in different county than the butcher shop. It was maybe 150 to 200 yards down the road. So I walked down to the store and bought another two lines of PB. Cost me another 6 bucks. I walked back to my car, jumped in, and rode home. I drove a total of a little more than 8 miles round trip, and it took me about 45 minutes to complete the trip.
You think that gas guzzler I drive got much of a dent put in its gas tank? I don't. G5

Gotta love those people that think they're experts at something they know nothing about.
I once worked with someone like that. Nobody in the office would talk to him unless it was work related. Even if it was related to the job, you couldn't tell him anything. One day a in a very annoyed sounding voice a lady said to him "If you already knew the answer to the question you asked me, why did you ask me in the first place?" I had all I could do to keep from bursting out loud with laughter.
That poor guy had nobody... not at home or work. He was a Catholic but he didn't celebrate things like anniversaries, birthdays, Easter, Thanksgiving or Christmas. I'm retired now, but after returning to work after the New Year's holiday, I was telling someone that I worked with that I had prime rib for Christmas dinner. Mr Know It All was standing nearby so I asked him what he had for Christmas dinner. (Yes, I was definitely "up to no good" by asking him that.)
His answer was "A baloney sandwich." You should have heard that lady with the annoyed sounding voice roar with laughter! Unfortunately that's the kind of treatment folks get when they're obnoxious. I don't make the rules, I just play by them. I just go by what I see. G5

Yesterday I saw something at a local supermarket's customer service counter that caught my eye.
It was a PowerBall ticket lying underneath a big sheet of clear plastic that was covering some scratch off tickets. Someone had placed a small piece of paper beside the ticket with handwritten words that said "Please buy me" along with an arrow pointing at the ticket.
The total cost of the ticket was $390. I know it was an advance play ticket because it had a date range of a few days ago out to a drawing date in February of 2026. I don't recall how many lines were on the ticket. It said "NO" to the PowerPlay and Double Play options. For a couple of seconds I actually considered buying the ticket, but thought better of doing it because I thought it might have been canceled and it was a joke of some kind. Nor did I inquire about it to the clerk that was waiting on me. I don't know if it was a QP or player picked numbers.
It was obviously a ticket that was generated in error, and the customer refused it. I wondered if the clerk that had made the error had gone ahead and canceled it. Players that regularly play the lottery often say "Go ahead and buy the ticket that was created by mistake" but in this particular case that's a horse of a whole different color.
I realize the numbers on the ticket would have a lot of influence as to whether or not some players would buy it, and of course a player has be able to afford it. But if it really is still active, for sale, and you can afford it, would you buy it? G5
I've got a "cake taker" for you...
Today I swung past that same local supermarket that had that $390 PB advance play ticket for sale. I wanted buy a few Florida Fantasy 5 ticket for tonight's drawing. At the Customer Service Counter the $390 PB ticket was gone (they sold it to somebody) but now there was a $192 advance play PB ticket under that big sheet of plastic with the same "Please buy me" sign beside it. It had a bunch of QP lines on it. The drawing date range on the ticket started with tonight's PB drawing.
Curiosity got the best of me so I asked the clerk about it and the other $390 ticket. The kid said this morning a guy that appeared to him to be very unfamiliar with buying lottery tickets and obviously didn't know what he was doing while telling the clerk what he wanted had refused it when he was told it cost $192.
I asked "Can't it be canceled? "Nope" said the clerk. "We can only cancel Pick2, Pick3 etc tickets." He then proceeded to tell me "I sold that $390 ticket, so I know I'll sell this one."
Just as I was tempted (for a few seconds) to buy that $390 ticket, once again I was tempted but decided not to buy this one.
But then, Hell! It's Christmas time! If it's still there tomorrow I'll probably treat myself.... G5

I bought 23 picks, spent $46...won $4....lol. I always expect to win $0 going into it. I really only play for the jackpot/second place to be honest so any little prize won just buys extra tickets.

I buy 1 for every $100million of cash value. Since it's in the $400s million right now, I'm buying 4.
Hoping for the best.
That is the way I like to do it too, for both PB & MM except I save the cost of the tickets and then later make larger PB purchases per draw from the money saved from multiple draws instead of buying tickets for every draw of lower amounts.
The problem with MM is that it grows so slowly until it finally takes off with a really huge jackpot that I wound up saving a lot more per draw for more draws than I really wanted to until it was won and then dropped back to the $5 saving amount. So, I have reduced the amount of MM savings to $10-$15 maximum per draw regardless of how large the jackpot size gets. That will still provide enough funding to buy 1-5 tickets per draw when the jackpot reaches a Billion or more.
I had already planned to start dipping my toe in the water for the 1 Billion PB jackpot with the same 100 Mil/1 ticket ratio as you are doing too. I will still have enough funds saved to do a major purchase (by my standards) if/when PB reaches a really stupid high amount.
Best wishes to all who play either game any way they wish to.

I played PB and MM that way but when MM went to $5, I stopped playing MM regularly and only play sometimes if the mood hits me. I haven't figured out a system for it yet that won't be too expensive.
At most I only play once a week with one ticket and many weeks I don't play MM at all. I did decide to play tonight and have 1 ticket with a 3X multiplier. Who knows, it might be the one.
