  Curious how this crowd actually does it, since there's clearly every school of thought here. I'll admit I bounce between a couple of these depending on the game and my mood — frequency charts when I'm feeling analytical, straight quick picks when I'm not.

  No wrong answer and no judgment on any of them. Mostly just want to see where the regulars land. If you've got a method that doesn't fit the options, drop it in the comments — and if you've ever switched from one approach to another, I'm curious what made you change.

  Sometimes QP, but I also have pennies that I numbered that I draw from a cup at random sometimes.

  And sometimes I use LP's random number generator.

  When I first started playing I used street numbers from places I'd lived. IIRC, all but one were birthday numbers. I think NY lotto only had 40 numbers at the time so it didn't matter much that most of my numbers were  ones other people might play more often. At some point after that I switched to a combination of numbers that I figured most people wouldn't choose, hoping to increase my chance of being a sole winner. Then they introduced quick picks, so 70 to 80% of players no longer have numbers they wouldn't choose.
