The person who originally wrote the pledge was a minister who wanted to keep Church and State seperate, which is why he left out any religious references. In a world in which almost every conflict going on at this time is over religious differences I often wonder why we have to keep trying inject religion into non religious areas. Return the pledge to it's origional form and leave it alone.

      Well said, Megamillion.

       Todd,

I hadn't read the first page of this disscusion, and agree with you, it's, stupid decesions, by, judges. Combined, with the way, 'fundamentalist', tend to 'gardner', God, all too themselves. The 'Spirit', GOD, if you beleive in it, is, all-inclusive. And speaks too, a higher, all-incompensing, 'state'.

Well, I see my posting has caused some problems here, this is not what I intended. Let's remember that everyone here can read for themselves and can make their own choice.  To those of you that are in support of this, I say thank you and to those who want to pick it apart.....well, my great grandmother always said "There's always a  who doesn't know when to stop pickin"!

Doesn't look like it'll be a "quickie" war.

My two or three cents worth comes in a sort of parable.

Once in this galaxie,  a long time ago, a dyslexic agnostic insombulent wondered all night if dog had gotten religion. Religion is man made.

When I was a boy, a long, long time ago in this galaxie and on this planet; various denominations believed that the supreme being was only in their house of worship; athiests aver that they have no creed but they sure like to spend, as the dyslectic put it, the dog that's on a greenback that all of us workers toil our butts off for on a weekly basis. Wether the word of God in or on something is right or wrong, it is not worth getting a twist in your shorts over. IT WORKS!!! In my estimation, the perpetraters of such a demotion had very little to do, so, they started antaganizing well meaning folks with this kind of debate. Seven come eleven speak to or daddy! Let's take some "dog" away from our states, yes?
