Todd, I know this is not a "lottery", but...
FYI, the $1 billion annuity is paid as:

$5 million payment in years 1-20;

$10 million payment in years 21-39; $710 million in year 40 (AD 2042?)

Yes, there WILL be a cash option of $250 million (Mr Whitaker's was about $170m)

Anybody see the specially-marked bottles yet? I did last week in Connecticut, even though AFAIK the game doesn't begin until May 1 (Thursday).

That Pepsi game.... Is it just like a regular sweepstakes, or is there a twist to it. There must be something else to it if it is a billion dollar game.

Smart lottery winners form trust to claim their winnings. They send an attorney to the lottery headquarters to claim the prize in trust, so that ONLY the name of the trust is revealed. And they tell NO ONE, especially relatives.

If you ever win a lottery and you are single, the only person you should ever marry is someone who was truly in love with you BEFORE you won the jackpot!

People can talk about strategies and gimmicks all they want, but unless your ticket actually matches at least 5 of those 6 balls, you are just another person who tried to win a game yet ultimately failed.

The billion-dollar prize is backed up at least in part by Warren Buffett (he's from Nebraska AFAIK.)

It's a 40-payment annuity with a "balloon" as the final installment. The saving grace is the cash option; because of the unique annuity, the cash value is 25%.

Now that you mention it, Warren Buffett lives in Omaha. He's the second richest person in the country (Second to Bill Gates, of course). I didn't know that Buffett is backing this up. Isn't he a major shareholder in Coca-Cola? He owns Dairy Queen, I know that for sure, and they serve Coca-Cola.

Buffett owns about 8% of Cola-Cola.

Perhaps if someone wins the $250 million cash (why on earth would ANYONE want the 40-payment balloon annuity?), Buffett would need to sell Coke shares to pay off the Pepsi winner.

If you read the rules it says that you will pick a 6 digit number at the start of the contest. You have to exactly match all 6 numbers to win the billion. 1 in a million chance. Pepsi or Buffet hasn't exactly put up the cash yet. Pepsi bought an insurance policy from one of Buffet's companies against someone winning.

Okay, now I believe you can predict lottery numbers

basically, there'll be an dvent in Florida you must attend where:
*It is currently anticipated that each Sweepstakes Winner or Designee in attendance at the Event will be required to select a unique six-digit number (from 000,000 to 999,999) at a designated time prior to the start of Event........At the end of the Event, the Sweepstakes Winner with the number (through the participation of Sweepstakes Winner or Designee) which is closest to the Billion Dollar Number on the basis of criteria to be determined by Sponsor and announced prior to start of Event (such person, the "Event Winner" and such number, the "Winning Number") will win the One Million Dollar Prize. If the Winning Number is identical to the Billion Dollar Number (i.e., all six digits of the Winning Number are identical to, and in the same sequence as, the six digits in the Billion Dollar Number), then the Event Winner will also win the One Billion Dollar Prize (to be paid in ccordance with Rule 16). The One Billion Dollar Prize will be awarded only if the Event Winner achieves the winning criteria set forth in the immediately preceding sentence; otherwise, the One Billion Dollar Prize will not be awarded and neither Sponsor nor Insurer (as defined in Rule 16 below) shall have any liability to award the One Billion Dollar Prize under any circumstance
