  Wouldn't a more timely response have been in order here? What I mean is, why has it taken this long for that interaction to register? If I had heard that on national television, I would have been on the phone to lottery officials, attorneys general, newspapers and, if necessary, my mother.

  This happened, apparently, five or more years ago. I don't doubt your sincerity; given the present situation in Indiana, I won't discount anyone's suspicions. I guess I just can't comprehend why this ancient interview is suddenly so alarming.

  I can't help it; it's driving me up the walls!! I have to ask...

  Why didn't you say something back then???????

  Sorry, I was not meaning to alarm you!!  Even after I posted the post, I went over it again in my mind. You're right, it's been a long time... After I thought again, maybe the official told Katie "We're sure a winning ticket has been purchased or will be purchased... (I'm not sure)"....

  (Memory leaves as one gets older.... and I'm in early 40's 

  :( 

  Honestly, I didn't think it a big deal at the time....sort of strange, but not a big deal, especially since I was not a lottery player.

  Are there any Today show archives on the net?  Perhaps a search would clarify the story.

  But for heavens sake..... calm down! Please accept my apology for the confusion. Yikes!!

   And come back down from the walls :)

  That was an interesting story, but I'm sure you weren't the only one watching that show and had it gone down as you said, some other viewers would have ask that question.  I think you can put that story in the urban legends category.

  What you likely saw was a comment that there was a 94% chance of a winner on the next draw.  Simply applying expected sales to odds in the game.
