  Now that Ohio Super Lotto (odds=1:13,983,816) and MegaMillions(odds=1:135,145,920) have the same jackpot size, Ohio Super Lotto is looking good again.

  Yes, you are. It's a Buddhist sentence for fortune power.

  It had a reasonable jackpot size. Only 6/49 but had 4M rollover for the first 4, 5 draws and then grow more.

  Ohio lottery popularity declined when the State decided to limit the amount that one ticket could win to $20M.  They reversed that decision some months later but by then it was too late, other games that payed more had taken the lead and Ohio tickets sales were down.  Ohio had to join one of the multi-state games to get ticket sales up again.  PowerBall has decided to limit jackpot size at a certain point and increase the 2nd prize amount, but it hasn't hurt ticket sales because it doesn't take effect until about $250M.

  They seemed to have lost more sales when they decided that getting 3 numbers entitled you to just a free play instead of cash ($3 I think).

  The powerball's limits take place only when the jackpot has exceeded a record size.  When a record jackpot has been exceeded the maximal increase will be $25 million dollars, creating a new record $25 million higher than the last record.  I think people will still continue to buy tickets rabidly in this $300,000,000+ jackpot range.

   

  From their site:

   

  Whenever the Powerball jackpot reaches a record level, the amount of the jackpot prize is limited to increases for each draw of no more than $25 million. The prize money collected in excess of the advertised jackpot amount, plus the maximum $25 million increase, will be placed into the Match 5 Bonus prize pool and will accumulate until there is a jackpot winner. When there is a jackpot winner, the Match 5 Bonus prize pool will be divided equally among all winners of the Match 5 prize. The prize will be paid in one cash lump sum.
