I am from the UK. Which state can I go to and buy both the Powerball and Megamillions? (preferably just several miles from each other)

From what I understand, it is Maryland and DC. Should be walking distance I guess

thanks

there really is no state that carries both (i'm pretty sure they both have a no competition clause), but i think there is some parts of MA that used to be part of RI, and when RI has the state fair (or something like that), and they have lottery booths there.

I've redone my website.  Go to www.dr-ew.com.  I kept a lot of the old stuff, and I've added some new stuff.  Look for more new stuff in the coming weeks.

Powerball currently has 28 participating states and Megamillions has 9 participating states.  No state has both Powerball and Megamillions, however there are several states that border each other you could go to purchase tickets for both games.  E.g., Illinois/Indiana is a good choice because Chicago borders Indiana and several $100,000+ winning tickets have been sold in that area....suburbs of Chicago and Lake County Indiana.  I live on the border of Illinois/Iowa and only have to cross a bridge  about a mile from my house to play in another state.  You can go to powerball.com and see a listing of participating states and megamillions.com as well.  With that info. and a map of the U.S. you can pick and choose where you would like to play.

p.s.....maryland is a megamillions state and D.C. is a powerball state, so that would work as well.

            Michiganplayer,

If you stay in Michigan of the United States, then you should know you can buy MegaMillions in Michigan and PowerBall in Indiana which borders on the south of Michigan.

Michiganplayer what Todd is saying is you can buy your tickets on-line without traveling to the US.

I live in Maryland and sometimes go to DC to buy powerball tickets but i have also bought them in PA and Delaware. I quess if one lived on the border of the two you could walk but it's about 100 mile round trip for me to DC.

The powerball website lists all the states that have the game so does the megamillion website.

thanks for all the replies. So which is the best Megamillions city (which has International flights from UK) that is close to a border that sells the Powerball.

                How far is it?

I presume DC and Maryland is just a city bus ride away?

The best one would have to be New York City.  A lot of Mega Millions Jackpot Winners that were sold in New York were sold in Mew York City, which is only a short drive from Connecticut, which offers Powerball.

                        A couple of questions:

                        1. Why the heck would you spend hundreds (or thousands) of dollars to fly to the US, when you can spend a few extra dollars to play online??

                        2. Why do you call yourself "michiganplayer" and state that you're from Michigan if you are really in the UK?

FYI, I play both Euro Millions and UK Lotto online (and have won collectively about $100 so far), but you don't see me hopping a plane to go buy tickets!

hi Todd, I called myself Michigan player as it was a name I thought up all of a sudden. No idea why.

Secondly, no offence, if you won the jackpot of 300 million say, you think the online companies will honour?

Thirdly, UK is a sh*t expensive place. I rather fly to the US several times a year as not only I can buy my lottery tickets, I can buy my  stuff which is far far cheaper than the UK. For example, the Nikon 8700, in the US, the cheapest I can get is US$650, in the UK, it is 700 pounds.

Stargate SG1 DVD box set, UK 50 over pounds, in US, it is US$48 from Amazon. My health supplement Spirulina, in US I buy 1.8KG of the powder for 69 dollars, in UK, it is about 300 pounds!

So I do save a lot. Covers my flight cost.

To answer your question, yes they would honor the ticket.  In case you didn't read the terms and conditions, you are entering into a legal contract with them, and it is iron-clad binding.

I have done more than a casual look-see at this matter: I have done in-depth research, and invested some good money in legal research.  I also know a good deal about the company and the people who own and operate it.  Those who know me here know that I would not endorse anything on this site unless I was sure of it.

So I do feel that you're wasting a great deal of money on a flight.

I think that you should change your profile to indicate that you are in the United Kingdom, not Michigan, USA.  I think that is misleading.
