I am trudging along with my spreadsheet.........and I got a problem again....

Example:

yesterday's draw: 670 in cells D1,E1,F1

today's draw: 175 in cells D2,E2,F2

What I want to do is highlight the repeat number which is 7..............and I am having a dickens of a time...........

I click on the cells in D2:F2, each individually.

I can get to highlight alright with this formula:

Conditional format

Cell Value    is equal to    =D1

Cell Value    is equal to    =E1

Cell Value    is equal to    =F1

Well, it does highlight what I want with that formula.............my daughter said to try =$D$1 but my husband says that anchors it and that is not right.

My problem is this.....................................I can get it to highlight with the above condition format BUT

I cannot copy and paste the formula down horizontally............like in the column it just copies the 175 all the way down thru 2,000 cells........

I tried both formulas.....the $D$1 FORMULA AND THE =D1 FORMULA AND NEITHER WILL COPY AND PASTE THE ACTUAL FORMULA.

Any suggestions from anyone?

Sandy

Hello. Whay are you using a spreadsheet program. I think you should be using a "Database" program. What state are you in, and do you by any chance have the complete history file for the Pick-3 in that state?

    email me kp@gate.net

    Tnx. Peter C.  Stuart, FL

        Again, thanks.

ok, you don't need to copy and paste the conditional formatting... you just need to format paint it (the little paintbrush on the standard excel toolbar... Anchoring is wrong, your husband had that right.... take out the dollar signs.

          1. click the cell you have applied conditional formatting to

          2. click the paintbrush

          3. click and drag the cells above to smoothly and effortlessly copy the conditional formatting upward...

          4. repeat this for each position.

          good luck!
