Australia has its own version of Powerball (for some reason, PB only and even 1+PB are not winners).

Powerball has not changed its first through fifth place prize payouts since it started in 1992.  Before 1997, it used to pay $5 for matching three numbers (or two+PB), $2 for matching one + PB, and $1 for mathching PB only, but those are the only prizes that have changed.

I suppose the % of money going into the jackpot is higher now than in Version I.

Most of the Mega Millions prizes are higher than in the original version of Big Game.

I dunno if PowerBall will stop allowing new states to join.

Question: Is PowerBall AND Mega Millions allowed in one, same state? (I think no, but there's nothing more powerful than a question, no matter how simple)

nope. texas wanted to do it, but poewrball said no.

I've redone my website.  Go to www.dr-ew.com.  I kept a lot of the old stuff, and I've added some new stuff.  Look for more new stuff in the coming weeks.

oh that would be so cool.  If one state had both.  lol TX wanted to do it.

I think Mega Millions should let Louisiana join them in addition to powerball.  that way I could just play one with the jackpot is high and not both.

Georgia very briefly had Big Game AND Powerball simultaneously in 1996.

MUSL probably would not let them back in.

But they allowed Maine back, presumably because ME didn't join Big Game, which wasn't available              in 1992.

Maybe CA will try both; they _did_ join MUSL.

Maybe Maine thought the new Powerball would be seem to weird to it's players (it was the first game of it's kind ever). Or maybe they thought it would cut into Tri-State Megabucks sales more than they wanted it to. In either case, Maine left on agreeable terms.

Powerball has more than half the states but nowhere near "half the country".  PB has 27 states, Wash DC,  PR and USVI but merely 31% of the US population. MM has only 12 states--now with Ca--but 53% of the population. ( 95.5 m vs 155 m)  Another state or two won't make any difference.  I'm with the others who want PB to increase the "lesser" prizes.  Also with those favoring the abandonment  of "annuitized" amounts--- and tax free!

Powerball is in Puerto Rico? Not the last time I checked.

I think that out of the remaining states left they will all dventually need a lottery to pay for some of the programs within there state.  So someday powerball will have 35 states and mega millions will have 15 and in the next 50 years we may have a national lottery to push powerball and mega millions around.
