"Ever since Trump started running for office, the authoritarian left has been determined to ruin his reputation. To do so, they’ve created a number of conspiracy theories. Their most popular conspiracy theory is that Trump has connections to Russia.

Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) is one of the main Senators responsible for spreading the conspiracy theory that the Trump administration has unethical ties to Russia. Apparently, this may be to distract from the fact that he’s the one that actually has a relationship with the country. In 2012, he got millions from a Russian tech company.

According to reports, Warner has made over $6 million investing in Russian tech company Yandex. Yandex, based in Moscow, is the largest search engine in the region. That’s like getting paid by Google. By getting this much money from Russia, it’s possible that Warner opened himself up to a conflict of interest. He may be using the conspiracy that Trump is working with Russia to cover up his tracks as a way to not get caught. ....."

The billions spent on the CIA’s information and software systems have created a Swamp of different kinds of software created by thousands of different software engineers using unknown and contradictory styles. It’s a witch’s brew of software, slapped together, each incompatible with the other. No one knows what’s in all this stuff. It is easy to hack. There is no incentive for a contractor to write software that will be easy for a competing contractor to use.

The Swamp’s software companies differ from Silicon Valley’s. Steve Jobs was entranced by technology at a young age. He was brusque and single-minded. By contrast, recently I met a tech CEO in the Swamp who sells software to the CIA. His career had been as CEO of a Democrat think tank. He’s a nice guy, well-connected, and an expert at schmoozing government employees and selling them questionable software. He doesn’t understand what he’s selling, but he knows the profit margin is huge. “None of my friends can believe I’m a tech CEO!” he said. ...."

"President Trump owes no debt to Russian lenders but has received some income from Russian sources over the past decade, his lawyers said Friday.

Trump’s legal team at the Washington, D.C.-based firm Morgan Lewis said in a certified letter that the former real estate magnate’s tax returns show he did not receive “any income of any type from Russian sources.” But the firm cited two exceptions, both of which have been widely reported.

In the letter, Trump lawyers Sherri Dillon and William Nelson also said that his taxes show that no Trump-controlled entities have Russian investors. Trump also owes no debt to Russian lenders, the firm said.

The returns do show $12.2 million Trump received from the 2013 Miss Universe pageant held in Moscow. The returns also show $95 million in income from Trump’s sale of Florida real estate to a Russian billionaire in 2008.

Dillon and Nelson state that “it is likely” that Trump’s businesses have “engaged in ordinary course sales of goods or services to Russians or Russian entities,” such as the sale of real estate or rental of hotel rooms.

“Such income would not have been separately identified as ‘Russian’ in your books and records and therefore not separately reflected on your tax returns,” the lawyers said. ...."

"Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) on Thursday vouched for President Trump’s assertion in a letter to former FBI Director James Comey that he was not under investigation by the FBI.

Grassley told committee members at an executive meeting that he and Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) had met with Comey last week, and that he had briefed them on who the targets of the various investigations are.

“Senator Feinstein and I heard nothing that contradicted the President’s statement,” he said.

Feinstein then said after Grassley’s statement, “I very much appreciate what you’ve said and it’s very accurate, and we were briefed.”

Grassley said that, shortly after Comey had briefed them, he had tweeted that the then-FBI director should be more transparent.

“I said he should tell the public what he told Senator Feinstein and me about whether the FBI is or is not investigating the President,” he said.

“Now Mr. Comey is no longer the FBI director. But the FBI should still follow my advice. It should confirm to the public whether it is or is not investigating the President. Because it has failed to make this clear, speculation has run rampant.” ...."
