A Week Off - Maybe

Work on the main project has all but ceased. I'm getting my main page and others updated while I decide whether the project is worth continuing or, if it's a go, how I'll proceed. I need a break from it anyway.

Desktop computer failure still not yet resolved. Most of the files I'll need to continue the project have been uploaded. If they can't be recovered I can download them. But a lot of software and programming cannot be replaced. I should know in the next couple of weeks.

Keno pages updated. Stardust Casino in Las Vegas has closed, will be demolished, entries deleted. Computations page updated to include all mentioned games. Analysis page updated, may need more work. Site main page updated. Live tournament pages built, uploaded. A couple of other pages slightly modified, uploaded. Lottery pages are next.

Taking time away from the computer to do some reading. Will take this week to raise my head and smell the roses.

Home

Home. Finished 2nd in Charleston, but a disappointing turnout.

Project not going well. I may be forced into more or less starting over, either due to the computer crash or overall dissatisfaction with what has been accomplished so far. Data will remain the same, as I'm just concerned about the displayed pages. I have to find a way to cut down on errors - there are just too many. And I haven't even looked at the second half yet.

Started searching lottery sites for planned update next month.

Computer crash not dealt with as of this date. Maybe this weekend. I'm working strictly with the laptop as of now, but physically not that much trouble. Desktop keyboard and monitor connected to the laptop. There are some things, though, which simply cannot be accomplished without the desktop. Some software cannot be replaced.

Crash - And Charleston SC

Desktop computer crashed Sunday. I don't think I've lost a lot of work if it's a hard drive failure since most of the work is on site but it's still a PITA. And I don't have the time to take it into the shop right now due to the impending trip. It'll just have to wait until I return.

Phase I project work has halted due to the crash. Phase II work is on the laptop and is about 15% complete.

Lottery pages are scheduled for update in December. Some helpful LP members have said they'l assist me in providing information.

Leave for Charleston SC this AM - see you all when I get back next week.

Work - And Reflections

The work project, Phase I, is now more than 85% complete. Although (in all likelihood) riddled with errors, it represents a milestone with regard to the effort expended. I've been working on it for almost a year now. And Phases II and III should correct those errors, and both of those phases are underway.

Since Todd has so generously allowed the total blogs of standard members to be viewed, I went over mine. It's truly amazing. The projects I've been involved with, progress made - I'd forgotten about some of them, as I seldom keep a personal record of work accomplished. And the travel.....good friends, good companionship. I guess, even without winning the lottery, I'm lucky.

Off Topic - Notes

Years ago on my website I had attempted to create color charts because at that time I was dissatisfied with what was offered on the web regarding same and I wanted to launch a website background project with a better idea of what I needed to do. Two of these files remain today, one based on font against either a white or black background, the other based on colors inside table cells - a pure color display, including comparisons. Each of them offer 4,096 colors - simplified, no names, simply the colors along with their hex code. This project is complete - I haven't touched it in more than a couple of years.

Imagine my surprise when one of the competitors in the Omaha tournament came up to me and asked if I was the "johnph77" who created these color charts. I replied in the affirmative and she said she referred to them whenever she had any graphics task involving the use of colors assigned to her and also when she was creating her personal web pages. I thanked her for her compliments.

But I was astonished. Someone took notice of my work even though I posted the output mainly for my own benefit and absolutely made no effort to publicize those pages other than through the titles on the web page, which would only be found when doing a search for the subject.

To those of you who would publish free lottery systems on the Internet, don't lose hope - someone will find you - and thank you.

Home

Home from Omaha. Finished 3rd of 9 with first-time partner. Getting there was an experience - a long story.

Work proceeding on Project 3 Phase I and going as well as expected, but will know more tomorrow. Should be finished soon. Will have to take care of some personal things which may delay completion but it's going well.

The dinner was great. Good times, good friends.

Work.....and Omaha

Something good to report on project progress for a change - final major work for Program 3 Phase I uploaded. There are still some files to construct and upload but that work should go reasonably quickly. There were some format errors in the new upload but they have been repaired - those error traps worked.

Statistical errors in Program 1 Phases I and II have not yet been corrected - that'll be the task facing me when I return.

I need to add the new NC and OK games to the payouts page and delete RI HotTrax - another mod for my return.

Omaha NE bound later today - stopping in Denver CO on the way back to have dinner with friends.

All going well - home again for a few days then off to Omaha NE. Got what the cards gave me in PA and MO. Played well, but not in any money.

Project is really fouled up. Far too many errors. Going over it all page by page, changing the format to try to avoid these in the future. Found first numeric error, which really ticks me off, as there are traps to catch those. Everything else to date was attributable to control file errors, which are easily repaired, but numeric errors are serious and a real pain.

No idea when lottery update will take place now. Project will suck up a lot of time through next month - will have to see what happens.

Home and Away - St. Louis MO, Lake Harmony PA

Have not had the time to update this since my return. Work on the main project plus work on two others have kept me busy. But it goes well.

Did not play in Rochester WA - hosted only.

Off to St. Louis MO and Lake Harmony PA tomorrow AM - be away for two weeks. Then home for a week before heading out again.

RI HotTrax ended 16 Aug 2006. Never did get the chance to finish the calculations I started on the game. I'll update the lottery payouts page in November - I hope.

Rochester WA

Far too many data entry errors in project. Everything else stopped until corrected. I'm truly amazed at the quantity of the errata that has slipped by me. All pages to be reformatted, both at my and client's suggestions, to avoid pitfalls like this in the future. But a large PITA now. Corrected uploads will be program-wide only - I'm not going to fool around uploading each page as corrected.

Still haven't gotten the new web host up and running and don't have the time to devote to this area now. Working with three different hosts. Probably will have to wait until November before being straightened out completely and I get down to one host again. But the newest host has been extremely co-operative with my requests.

Off to Rochester WA tomorrow AM to host (and maybe play in) a tournament - be back in a week.

Led after the first half of tournament - cards were hot for me, but not for my partner. Cards went to pot for me the second half and partner still couldn't get anything. Out of the money. So be it. I'll need to post the results and complete the web site for the tournament, but that shouldn't be any problem. Still had fun.

Accomplished some project work while on the road - will plug in the laptop tomorrow to find out just how much and how effective the work was.

Will also go to work tomorrow to try to answer a lottery question from RJOh re probabilities.

Server Update - and Sidetracked

Server change should not affect lottery and Keno pages on my site. I may have to alter the password-protected section but that shouldn't pose much of a problem. The pointer is not yet pointed toward the new site but should happen in the next couple of days.

Work on project got sidetracked. With the additional webspace and number of files available I went back to a personal project that had been languishing for over a year. It is now updated and complete as plannned. There were over 400Mb worth of files uploaded in the past week. Back to work on the main project now.

Head out for Fayetteville NC Tue AM - tournament time.

Update

Lottery payout page format update complete, uploaded. All covered games are in the new format.

All else goes well. Project as originally contracted is complete, including format updates. New sections of the project confirm this, making the rest of Phase I easier to complete. Life is good.

Onward and forward to bigger and better things.

Home

Home, if behind schedule.

Tournament was interesting, to say the least. Won the Friday singles, didn't do squat in the main tournament, was 2nd in the Saturday mini. Well-run tournament - as always and as expected from the wonderful hostess.

Had no idea I won Friday - hostess presented me with the prize as I sat in the motel bar enjoying a post-tournament drink.

Lottery payouts page format update will be complete as soon as I can get the time to transfer and upload files.
